What is this growing out of my live rock. They are almost like tentacles with white spots on the end. The tentacle things sway in the water but the whole thing just stays put. It doesn't travel around on the rock. Does anybody have any idea what this could be? And is it good or bad?

Wwweeeelllllllll now I'm really confused!!!! I thought the live rock and live sand would make the tank cycle. Ammonia was up then nitrites and nitrates. So do I need to start the cycle over with shrimp or the creators?????

There was a lot more yesterday hubby turned up the wave maker and it stirred the sand up a bit

I do have algae growing. It's been about 8 days or so of having algae. I put a small clean up crew in there. About 12 hermits and 8 snails. I've already wiped the glass a couple times of brown algae.
