Prime can really stink, plain and simple. I highly doubt it is what killed the fish, and I also wonder if you made contact with it in you eyes. How much spilled?

Well, I did a water change a few hours ago. My tap water contains .25ppm nitrites and after doing a test a few minutes ago, I'm already back down to 0ppm. Looks like I'm cycled or almost completely cycled.

The Cory will do much better with some friends as they're a schooling fish, however, you'd really need to get a bigger tank to make that happen.

The other plant looks like water wisteria to me. It also seems like you have some natural light that is making its way into the tank, so I think between that and that light in that small of a tank, if should be fine. Those are all pretty easy plants to grow and don't need a ton of light.

Oh, of course. You had said you were on well water. Well, I wonder if anything with the water had recently changed. If it was anything with nitrites and nitrates, I would imagine the tank should have still be able to handle them, but perhaps they were really high? I guess it's hard to say...

What did you condition the water with?

Maybe there is something I'm missing here, but why would a water change, even one that large, cause your tank to re-cycle?
