Anyone have a Siamese Algae Eater???

Give them a week or 2. When I first got mine, they didn't seem to eat much of anything. Now, they eat anything and everything (except algae :?) I used to give them Algae Pellets at first also, but the Tiger Barbs seemed a lot more interested in those than the SAEs did.

    Panda Cory Mortality

My substrate I don't think is the problem. It's really fine gravel, about the size of very large grains of salt that you might find on pretzels. It's smooth edge too. I do gravel vacs twice a week along with the water changes, so the only other thing left is overstocking, I guess. We'll see...

    Panda Cory Mortality

Are they sensitive to water changes? I have 3 right now in my 5G Platy fry tank, which gets daily water changes, with the water just dumped in. They seem to be doing ok after 4 months. I originally started out with 3 in my main tank, and they all lost their barbels, I'm guessing because of...

    Jumping Molly?!?

Seems that any fish can jump once in awhile. I've had 2 Siamese Algae Eaters jump twice, and one didn't make it, as I was at work when that one jumped. The other jumped while I was watching the tank. I had a Tiger Barb jump once when I was doing a water change. I didn't notice it until about...

    Melafix

That sounds like a good idea. I'll look for it next time I'm at the LFS.

    Melafix

Does anyone else think Melafix is hard to pour? Every time I try to pour it into the little measuring cup I use, it runs down the side of the bottle (both 4 and 8 oz sizes). I always have to do cleanup of the general area after using Melafix. How do you guys pour it? :)

    Which Cories do I have?

The Spotted Cory has a different spot pattern than the Peppered Cory.

    Which Cories do I have?

Mystery solved. I went back to the LFS where I got them, and they didn't have the clear finned variety anymore, but what they did have was the Peppered Cory, Corydoras Paleatus. So, I brought 2 more home to compare to what I have, and lo and behold, on my original 2 Cories, the tail and fin...

    Which Cories do I have?

Oops, I hit "report" instead of "reply" by mistake. Hopefully bad things won't happen. Sorry! :? Anyway, I'll try to take some better pictures later.

    Which Cories do I have?

It's not the Peppered Cory, because the Peppered Cory has coloration on the fins and tail, as opposed to the clear fins and tails in my picture. I checked PlanetCatfish already, and the closest thing I found was: Corydoras ehrhardti...

    Which Cories do I have?

So, I bought two Cories a couple weeks ago, and I haven't been able to find any information on which species of Cory they are. Directly Translated, the name at the LFS was "Flower" Cory. I doubt they are some rare species, as they were only about US$0.30 each. Can anyone give a positive ID...

Longest Fry can go w/o feeding?

They made it! A bit skinny :? , but alive and well. :)

Longest Fry can go w/o feeding?

They're in a 5 gallon nursery tank, and it's been fully cycled for at least 3 months now. Before it was a nursery tank, it was my QT tank. I've got an automatic feeder, but there's no way it can dispense frozen baby Brine Shrimp. I'll check to see if it can dispense the TetraMin Baby food...

Longest Fry can go w/o feeding?

I've got about 20 1 week old Red Platy Fry that, from birth, have been fed frozen baby Brine Shrimp 3-4 times a day, and had daily partial water changes. I'm going to take a trip this weekend, and will be gone from Friday night to Sunday night. Will they survive without feeding and water...

    Red Platy still sick (pics)

I decided I'm gonna let them grow up, and when they reach adulthood, give them away to my friends who keep fish. Seems most people aren't willing to put in the effort to do what it takes to raise fry from birth, and if not properly cared for, they die within a couple weeks it seems. My regimen...
