    Plant on live rock

It looks a lot like some that was in my tank. I thought it was neat at first until it started growing like nuts! I finally found the right sea urchin to eat the stuff. It would grow back if I just took it out by hand.

    mandarins eating habbits

Just copepods. I believe amphipods are too big for their mouth.

    mandarins eating habbits

I have had one in my 38G since March. He only eats pods. I never added any, they made their way into the tank with the LR. I waited 6 months until I added him (to make sure there was a good pod population living in the DT and sump) I have probably at least 70lbs of LR. I also have a 10G...

that's a no, there was a thread about this earlier this year. http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f11/rain-water-150398.html

    Ghost Shrimp

I can get ghost shrimp from a fish store that's an hour+ away. I used to get them for feeding my FW tank. I am pretty sure they sell them in FW since I always had a couple survive hiding in my plants. Can they be transitioned to SW? I'd love to try to get them to breed in the sump.

    Homemade Foods

Understood, I already said I am using pellets and like to supplement with frozen, if someone can chime in about that, that'd be great.

    Great find

I guess that depends on what you want to do with it. Tall tanks are good for things like seahorses, but you'd have to have some small, but strong lights to do a deep reef. I have a 35G Hex that has some remaining FW on it. I just don't know if I'd ever want to make it SW because of the depth...

    10 Gallon Aquarium

No matter what you put in there, stay away from gravel if you're doing saltwater. Best bet, if you can spend a little money on a 20G. That opens up what you can have in there. Also helps out with keeping your parameters in check. My smallest is a 20G and I don't know if I'd ever go smaller...

    Homemade Foods

Nothing too big, 3 different types of clowns, gobies, cardinals, royal gramma, sixline wrasse. (amongst my 3 tanks) I have starfish in all of them that have a hard time getting to the smaller foods. Well the serpent stars are better at grabbing it before the fish do. I have some good pellets...

    Memoirs of Pistol Pete

I had one of mine jump from the main to the backside of my biocube when I first got him. I now have the light diffuser as tops for all my tanks. Lets gas exchange happen, I can feed through it, and most fish can't jump through it. It can be a pain when I want to get my hands in there, but...

    Homemade Foods

How many people here make at least some of their food themselves? I used to buy beefheart and make a food back in the day when I had piranahs. For the most part I buy my SW fish frozen food once a week, and pellets or flakes a couple times a week. I'd like to make some chunky/meaty frozen...

    Chocolate chip star acting crazy

I have a CC starfish, occasionally his legs will curl. I've had him for a while, but often wonder if he is getting enough meaty food. I actually haven't had him touch any coral (at least that I could tell) but wouldn't take my chances in my other tank that has a lot more in it. He likes to go...

what would happen to the fish if the water temperature rose to 81f?

As said above your bigger problem is the 6 degree fluctuation throughout the day and night. If your house doesn't go above 81s that often then setting your heater higher to cut down on the fluctuation. How big of a tank is it? It should take quite a while to change the water temp assuming...

    my first pulsing xenia :D

I'm trying the suggestion to put galaxia on the rock after you remove it. I've had it there a couple weeks, too soon to tell.
