Do I need a bigger pump?
Correct me if I am wrong please but I think that I have pretty good circulation. My pump in the basement does 1500 gph and it has a maximum head of 31 feet. Using the 12 feet, I'm sure that I am not getting 1500 gph but don't you think that I am getting enough?

I ‘think’ that I have decided to add a refugium to my tank to create a sustainable, natural food source to try and get better growth out of my corals. Most the recommendations that I have seen for placing the refugium suggest feeding the main tank directly from the refugium. Therein lays the...
Hi All,
I working to better understand specific gravity and salinity.
My tank is currently reading 81% and my Aquarium Systems SeaTest Meter is reading 1.024 specific gravity or almost 33 ppt.
I’ve read that a good target is around 1.025 @ 80*F. How concerned should I be about being off and...
I just got finished making a hood for my 72 Gallon Tank.
It has two 250w MH (6,500k) and twoVHO actinics (boy is it hot in there).
I salvaged a reflector from my old hood, but that was only big enough to line the very top of the hood (where the bulbs are mounted).
Here’s my question: What...
Is Kalk simple to dose? I see all sort of dosers and reactors for kalk. Are they necessary, or can I just mix up a batch and add it to my top off water?
I need to do both, and I would like to do them both automatically. BUT – I’m on a budget. Is there an economical way to do both?
I want to dose B-Ionic because I understand that it provides calcium and helps maintain Alkalinity. I don’t have any hard corals yet. Should I wait until then or...
Great. I'll give it a shot. Not right now because I'm currently just planning out my tank inhabitants. But I am really looking forward to observing the behavior between the two. Hopefully they burrow in a place where I can watch.
Would it be o.k. to keep an Watchman Goby and mated shrimp in a tank with a deep sand bed, or would the two be too disruptive/destructive to the sand bed?
I’m currently running a 1250 Gallon/Hr pump on a 72 gallon (soon to be reef tank).
I just added a few damsels to the tank and they really showed the effects of some very strong water movement. Is there such a thing as too much water movement? Will it have a negative effect on corals?
PS – I’m...
