Seems strange that some things are thriving and others are dieing off. Sounds like your tank hasn't finished cycling or cycled at all. You will definitely be getting some ammonia from the waste and die off from the rock. Are you doing the tests correctly? If you are then something is wrong with...
I agree, you don't want to be using chemicals to lower your ammonia, just leave it be and once all the bacteria is up and running you won't have any ammonia.
Yeah I'd wash the bio balls I think they'd be ok, just get new filter pads/sponges if you have them. Try scrubbing the balls with a toothbrush or something. This hobby is all a learning curve so don't worry it's only a minor setback just have a think about things before you do it lol. Like air...
Nevermind everyone makes mistakes just make sure you wash the tank thoroughly, I'd just use a tiny bit of washing up liquid or bleach and rinse it thoroughly, I mean overkill just keep rinsing. But that will definitely rid the tank of any copper traces.
As for the rock keep it and rinse that...
Looks like a good size, you not gonna use a substrate? If not then I'd just some egg crate or something for the rock so it doesn't scratch or crack the bottom of your tank. What you planning to stock it with?
Shoots your totally missing the point, even if you got it for free. It's still gonna get poisoned and die in a none cycled tank which is way too small. You need to sort out that bigger tank as soon as possible. And get some live rock to try to speed up the cycle process.
Yeah but 25gallons, that fish will give off a lot of waste which in 200gaons would be diluted in the water more and then cycled. In 25gallons it's not dilute much and it's not even cycled so its just gonna build and build to ridiculous levels. I'd give the fish a few days at the most. I tried a...
So jealous of you lol. My lfs had the aqua reef 300 in for £900 but now that they are popular they are £1050. I missed out but nevermind, they are a great looking tank. Good luck and keep us posted
