When I used backgrounds I applied them with a couple drops of vegetable oil and a squeegee. Now I just make 3d backgrounds.

Don't cook rocks. It' a waste of time and they run the risk of blowing up.

It does look like some kind of Aulocanara hybrid. I don't see where it looks at all like a Venustus other than a blue head. I would guess it's a Red Shoulder hybrid. It's beautiful though.

I used cichlid sand but if I had it to do over (I will soon enough) I would use Tahitian moon.

I also figure if a rock falls it will possibly cushion the impact.

I got mine at home depot and cut it with wire cutters to fit my tank.

It's not that it's easy to crack it's just that some people such as myself have hundreds of pounds of rock in their tanks.

List the fish by species and it will never be flagged. Just don't put fish for sale in your ad title and you'll get by. I've bought and sold fish on CL and never had a problem. I know lots of guys who use it almost exclusively for selling their stock.

The egg crate stabilizes your rock and spreads the weight over the whole area of your bottom glass. This way you don't have pressure points that can cause your bottom to crack in your tank.

I've never seen a fish add flagged on Craigslist. I think they let them slide under the radar. It's dogs that they get upset over. I don't think they want people running puppy mills on their site.

I make mine 2-3" thick because I love to watch my fish landscape the sand for me. I find if it's thick like this they don't really ever dig all the way to the bottom of the tank.

I don't plan on feeding veggies. I was just bringing up a discussion that was a little different than the run of the mill stocking thread that we all get so bored of. I'm more than happy feeding my NLS and I know it has all the proper nutrients.
