    Growth on Betta

UPDATE: I do believe this is lymphocystis (a virus). The fish has been active, eating, and pooing normally now after 3 weeks since discovering the growth. It appears that it will subside eventually on its own and could take months and that it is generally nonfatal.

Betta has white cottony looking thing by mouth?

Not familiar with pimafix uses with Bettas. Am also thinking this could potentially be columnaris. Keep up with the water changes and aq salt until you hear from someone regarding the growth. Posting a pic would help and knowing the parameters of your water would be of help as well.

Betta has white cottony looking thing by mouth?

Doesn't sound like ich or velvet or mouth rot. It sounds more like a fungus. Don't know what you're keeping your guy in (over 2 gal is best, heated) but 25% daily water changes at a minimum and aquarium salt (not table salt) is the best way to start helping. I'll let someone else who may have...

What else can I do for my sick betta?

Oh, hate it when that happens. Having issues with my betta too right now. What I've found works best for fin rot is pristine clean water. Daily 25% water changes and aquarium salt (not table salt). I've never had to use medication to clear it up as long as the water stays clean with the aq...

    Growth on Betta

Hi all, I have a Orange Dalmation Betta Splenden who has a growth (3days). It seemed to sprout overnight. He is in a 2 gal/heated tank, 5-6 day 100% water changes w/1/4 tsp aq salt, 2 pellets Hikari morning and evening, he is eating well, active, and pooing. Can't find what it might be or if I...

white web-like/cotton substance growing on ornaments

I'm not sure what you've got, but I had the same ornament from Petco in my tank and after about a six weeks the paint started coming off. I'd remove it and return it for your money back.

Hundreds of white specs on glass are moving!!

I had the same issue about a year ago when my tank was new and uncycled (newbie and got bad advice about cycling with fish). I did daily water changes and eventually they disappeared. No harm to the fish.

    Glowlight tetra Stopped Eating

I lost one of my 2 remaining Glolight Tetras (I'm not replace any Tetras, haven't had much luck with them). About 10-12 days ago, I noticed he stopped eating. No other symptoms right away. About a week ago he started acting weakish, swimming funny but still trying to keep up with the pack. I...

Ammonia, Bald Spots, and Unidentifiable White Stuff! D:

I had the same problem. Don't know if you've checked your water source yet, but I had ammonia in my tap water. My solution was filtering my water. My suggestion for the time being would be to do 10-20% daily water changes until your ammonia and nitrItes are both 0.

Where do most people keep their aquariums?

All of mine are in the livingroom which is my home office. They help keep my stress levels down and are an excuse to stop working, breath, and just watch, feed, or clean them.

    swordtail acting funny

Sounds good. Looks like you're heading in the right direction. You'll be at it for a while, probably 4-6 weeks until its cycled, but hang in there, it's well worth it.

    swordtail acting funny

Oh gosh, don't feel bad. You're doing the right thing by coming here with your questions. No worries. If you have an established tank where the fish will fit in, sure, I'd do that. Good question about there being enough ammonia to finish the cycle if you remove the fish. I don't think I...
