i used tap water to start and ro/di water to fill. the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate level for both sources are zero.
the phosphate level started to shoot up after i put in the uncured live rocks.
i cured my live rocks in the display tank in a new set up along with the refugium. it's been two weeks and i believe the rocks are cured. the nitrate level is not bad but the phosphate level shoots up quite a bit.
my question is how effective are the macroalgaes in absorbing phosphate?
yes i do have specific species in mind but also would like to know the general rules of thumb.
i am pondering the possibility of adding 1-4 of the following
Cirrhilabrus solorensis
Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura
Cirrhilabrus exquisitus
Cirrhilabrus lineatus
Cirrhilabrus laboutei
Cirrhilabrus...
