Okay so I have two green spotted puffers in a tank together...they get along just fine. It's actually as if they like each other honestly..they sleep right next to each other and don't have territory issues...it's great, especially considering I bought one a month apart from the other...
I've decided that my camera pictures are off on color as the colors match up PERFECTLY in reality.
I tested all but nitrates this time:
pH - 7.6 (looks like possibly 6.8 in the picture lol)
High Range pH - 7-4-7.8
Ammonia - 0 ppm (looks like .25 ppm in the picture)
Nitrite - 0 ppm (looks like...
My kit only came with 4 test tubes so I cant show high-range pH at the same time but how does this look?
There's a little less than .25 ppm ammonia from what it looks like, with a pH of 7.6 and 0 nitrites this time. Then nitrates look like they're at 5-10 ppm.
I think the small ammonia is...
This is the day I waited for.....I think my cycle is done.
I've had no ammonia and high nitrite for a while now....and today I tested and BAM....no nitrite. So I go ahead and test nitrate and there is some, FINALLY.
So what do I do now...anything?
The nitrate count is about 5-10 ppm.
And...
So I have some really young green spotted puffer fish in my tank currently and am planning on converting it to a marine tank (they love longer apparently in marine conditions)....so my question is, WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!!?
I've only had this freshwater tank for about a month and a half, maybe 2...
Yeah I love it...and I got another.
I went and bought some snails to eat and have been feeding them bloodworms.
The tank is kept really nice and I do water changes constantly to keep the levels in check while it finishes the cycle.
I'm going to get some instant ocean and wean the salt on them...
the guy at the pet store sold it to me calling it a dwarf puffer but it seems he was wrong...oh man.
well i'm going to have to get some salt for the water.
Okay...so I've been trying to cycle with a fish in my tank as my ammonia source...right now I have a pH of 7.6, ammonia of 0, nitrite of 2-5 ppm, and nitrate of 0.
It's been like this for about 2 weeks now...no ammonia levels, always nitrite, and still no nitrate.
I just do water changes once...
Okay so I've been testing every day....I have ammonia and nitrite everyday so I've been doing water changes seeing as I am doing fish-in cycling.
I keep testing for nitrates and none show but for the first time when I left my 0-nitrate test tube over night I woke up and it showed orange...which...
Yeah I tried out two neon tetras...they're dead. I think I'll get another puffer and end it there!
And you don't have a petsmart or petco near you..?
And I'll post pics soon! I'm at my girlfriends, tonight at latest.
I guess whenever I upgrade to something bigger than a 10 gallon (a 55 gallon is next on my list)...then I'll get one along with it! Until then...it isn't worth it to me. Was just curious.
