The betta's in a 2.5-gallon hexagonal tank, with the snails and some Elodea. I change about 1/2 gallon of water once a week. The tank has one of those mini-heaters, so it stays around 78-82*.
The betta hasn't been in the best of health for the past few months, so it could be he's just at...
Hi all
My betta had a bout with fin rot about 2 weeks ago. I removed his snails to another tank, and treated him with "Fungus Clear" (nitrofurazone, furazolidone, and potassium chromate).
He got better, so I changed the water and put one of his snails back in... BAM He's got fin rot again...
I can see this working for the rocks and the decorative house, but will it also work for the actual tank?
In reference to dechlorinator.... so I should dip the plants in the Alum stuff for 2-3 hours (per the link someone posted), then dip them in dechlorinated water? I take it I can use...
Hi
I have a 10-gallon tank with some healthy Elodea. The problem is this tank also has a bunch of pond snails in it. I'm shutting down the 10-gallon for the summer, and want to take the plants (plus the fish!) with me in a smaller tank as I relocate for a summer job. However, I don't want to...
Hi everyone
I seem to have a whole bunch of copepods in one of my tanks. This tank has two plants and a snail, so I'm wondering how these little guys showed up. Any ideas?
Thanks
Hi everyone - hope your Friday is going well.
Okay, so I don't like the pond snails that have taken over my tank, but if one of them is suffering, I'd like to alleviate it.
I have a planted tank in my office at school that also has one of my olive snails. A pond snail apparently hijacked its...
Hi everyone
I'm somewhat new to the planted tank world, but being a botanist by trade, it's an area in which I'd like to (need to?) excel. Several aquarium plants are considered basal in the evolution of plants, so I'd like to have a nice spread. I'd love to have some really cool aquarium...
Thanks for the responses, everyone... I only have a 10-gallon tank for each betta, and don't want to add more fish, especially ones that will get large. I'm trying to cut down on the biomass, not add.
Thanks again!
I have rescued my share of bettas from Wal-Mart and PetCo. I actually spoke to a manager at PetCo one time, over the condition of the bettas... rotting food at the bottom of those terribly small containers, half-full of water, even some dying... Her response: "Well I just got here, and the...
Hydra are in the same phylum as regular jellyfish, although they are in a different class. We tried feeding brine shrimp to one in lab just now, but the shrimp was too big.
Well, these other snails have more of a conical shape (with a point at the end) than the olive snails do. I guess it is possible some other snail came in on the live plants I bought a while back... especially when I consider that the snail problem started at the same time.
