Danio with a hole in it's side

I've been treating with Tetracycline. It is healing over, and he seems to be active and eating well, but now it seems to have a swim bladder problem. =( Hope he makes it. :(

    All my fish are dying!

Be wary of advice from people at the shop. A lot of the lfs people (esp at pet stores) don't know what they're talking about (as in the person who sold you the melafix). I have a few specific aquariums where I feel comfortable with taking advice from. These are people that ask you how long...

    All my fish are dying!

That is an option. My local water is rather hard as well, so I've actually invested in a water softener unit for my bathroom, it's good for your skin and hair (both visibly better after two washes in it... I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tried it), and I also use it for all my water...

Anyone know what's up with this betta?

It's fish bloat I think. Not exactly dropsy (no raised fins, and she would probably be much more lethargic if she had dropsy), but there's something going on in there. I think this website covers it pretty well: Fish Bloat, Diagnoses and Treatment

    All my fish are dying!

It's possible that your pH was a little on the high side for your minnows and danios (high end 8), and not as bad for your loach (high end 8.5). My gourami is okay in about the same range of pH as your danios and minnows, but they were instantly affected (lethargic, breathing heavily -...

Danio with a hole in it's side

Thanks, I hope so too, but no one seems to have anything to say about it. :( I don't want to keep having to put this fish though the treatment every couple of months. If this keeps happening, I might have to just euthanize him. :nono:

    All my fish are dying!

What are the pH and ammonia readings? After you got a replacement tank, did you also get an appropriate sized filter system? The tank might also be considered a tiny bit over stocked. A rule of thumb for most freshwater fish is about 1 inch of fish/gallon, and your 54 litre tank is about 14.2...

Danio with a hole in it's side

It's been a while since my last post. The danio had healed after the treatment, acted normally. However the hole has come back in the last week, in a different location. It's the exact same danio too. I only have 3 golden danios (one is shorter finned, the other is a leopard). *** The tank...

    Bumps in Tail Fin

    Hiya...

I've been keeping fish for about 3 years. Started off with a betta, and it quickly escalated to a betta AND few phantom and black skirt tetras in a 10gallon tank... Then it was danios (half of those died from tb after about a year), and then Angelfish (a white pearl, cobalt, and a large black)...

    Bumps in Tail Fin

Hello,, I hope this is in the right section, I'm new here. I had a small guppy breeding tank, and gave my parents a batch of the males. After adding a few from the lfs, they started having trouble keeping the fish alive. Every week, one would die. They had their water tested, and everything...
