I'm starting my first reef tank and I've been super extra cautious with everything. I cycled my DT and QT for three months before bringing home my first fish yesterday, a Midas blenny. He was eating and happy looking in qt. After I turned the lights off he seemed stress so I left a hall light on...
So I've been in the hobby for a couple of years now, and have several heavily planted tanks. The lights over my 55 just completely up and died today because it was the first thing I ever bought and didn't realize until now they were total crap. It's an odyssea 48" t5ho with two 55 watt bulbs...
So I have a 55 gallon HEAVILY planted tank. A year or two ago I bought an odyssea 48" inch t5ho light ballast. At the time I was just starting out and just trying to find something that would fit the tank without having to get a custom lid (the tank is from the 80s and just slightly off standard...
Thanks that's what I needed to know, I'm going to take a look at it again tomorrow and do another water change if I need to. The fish seem to be fine for now
So my 55 has been well established for a year now, I hardly ever have issues other then a little bit of hair algae and some platys that have become lumpy looking over the past few months (I've been all over the Internet and chalked it up to age and crappy breeding, but if you know anything about...
So, I have an empty fully mature 20 gallon. I was thinking about putting a pair or one kribensis in there. Aqua advisor is having a hissy fit about it right now, so I wanted your consensus on stocking.
I have an aquaclear 20 filter and an elite mini for a little extra current for my hillstream...
So I got a convict cichlid for a nice big specimen tank. I picked this particular one out because he was so funny spitting pebbles out to build a little cave and flaring at the other cichlids. also I wanted to potentially save someone newer to the hobby from introducing a particularly aggressive...
Yaaaay. So so far, I have two options
A school Rummynose and a
School of zebra danio with a krib or apisto (my best lfs tends to have kribs but not apistos, but I could always check again)
OR
Just one convict or jewel, whichever they've got
I'll have to ask my partner what she'd prefer...
Also, it's an iwagumi scape. There's plenty of rocks and interest for most fish, but it's definitely not cluttered, I also have some slate to sneak caves behind the rocks
Jewel as well as convict cichlids seem to do well at 75 according to everything i look at, as my loach has been for a long time now, do you think they don't thrive at that temp?
