She is a galaxy koi (has koi coloring with shiny blue scales scattered in). The ‘koi’ coloration in bettas come from marble lines. The marble coloration causes the coloration to change over time especially in younger fish. Her color change looks like normal koi ‘marbling’ ;).

Could you post more pictures or a video? If you can get him/her to flare in a video, it’d be easier to tell.

I have a 120 gallon tank that I put assassin snails in to get rid of out of control ramshorn snails. Now that all the ramshorn snails are gone, I think I want to add some nerite snails. I have read that if the assassins are fed, they shouldn’t go after bigger snails such as a nerite. Is this true?

Looks like common pond or bladder snail to me. They breed easily and fast. They are pest snails and hard to get rid of. Could get an assassin snail to help keep the population controlled as they eat other snails (hence assassin ��).

I’ve decided to stick to the original plan. If the betta doesn’t work out in the 125, I’ll move him into a spare 10gallon.

Thank you and actually I was looking at aquabid and at yunite too. But I'm afraid to get anymore right now untill I get the tank back to normal and add more plants. Yes I've heard balloon rams aren't hardy but that's what I had locally at the time.

Thanks but unfortunately I came home to 2 dead gbr (one was the female) and the other two hanging on. Other fish seem fine and I checked the water and that's all fine too. I blame it on overdosing melafix. I Was dosing 2xs a day with carbon in the filter and everyone was fine but I wasnt seeing...

Update- checked on them before I went to bed and less eggs now. Don't know if they were infertile and they ate those or if they hatched and the other fish got to them. Hopefully if any fry hatch from what's left by morning, I can catch them.

Ok seems that it's ok to use with eggs/fry. Going to start treating with methylene blue when it gets here (had to order) and that does say its ok to use with fry. Update- I saw a couple eggs wiggling this morning before I went to work :D
