I am adding a new canister filter with a UV sterilizer to an existing tank. The tank is 37 gallon with a Aquaclear HOB filter. Only a few fish in the tank. I will be keeping both filters and add more fish in a while. Question is how will the "good" bacteria get into the canister filter? should I...
Ok been doing more reading on the net. I think fora 37 gallon tank with an AC 70 adding an Eheim 2217 might cause too much flow/turbulence for the fish. So I am thinking either 2213 or 2215? Thoughts?

thanks for the replies. another question. With the AC 70 and the Eheim 2217 running together in a 37 gallon tank will the water movement be too much for the fish? Should I get a 2215 instead?
I currently have a 37 gallon tank with an Aquaclear 70. I am considering adding a canister filter. reason is back up filtration (had motor die on Aquaclear and had to replace which left tank un filtered for a few days) and I want to add a UV sterilizer and figured it would be best on the outlet...
I have a relatively new Aquaclear 70 that has recently been making noise intermittently. I have cleaned out the impeller and it persists. I was considering just getting a Cascade canister filter as I heard they were good and quite. But before spending a hundred bucks thought I would ask here...
Was going to try the purigen in my Aquaclear 70. A couple questions
1) the literature says helps reduce ammonia. Will artificially lowering the ammonia not starve my good bacteria?
2) will a pack of the 100 mlk size be good for the Aquaclear 70? I will have (starting from the bottom) one...
so i added two golden balloon body to my tank. 5 days later one lost all color and died. other seems fine. ammonia is 0, nitrites 0, nitrate on Sat was less than 5 ppm. but did the weekly water change. any ideas what happened? want to get replacement, but want to know what happened first.
I have about a 3 inch pleco in my 37 gallon tank. How do I know if it is getting enough food? It never comes out during the day, sometimes I see it hanging on glass in the evening after the lights are out. during the day just hangs out upside down on the driftwood.
thanks, but I do not have a pet nanny and we are in the boonies. Any timed release feedings available? automatic feeders? etc that one would recommmend?
