Sometimes female guppies will die during birth. Check tank for the babies.

I use the marine lights on my freshwater tank 10,000k and 460nm. I like the blue moonlights at night and it grows plants well.probably not as well as a plant light but it will do for me.

I would keep them separate too. That way you could avoid dead spots in the tank with two separate outputs. Also the 1/2 inch PVC will give you faster flow. If your using 1/2 inch ID tubing from the filters you could go with 1/2 inch O,D, CPVC to the tank , it will fit in the 1/2 inch I.D. tube...

Also check out silk and plastic plants at discount stores and I've seen quite a lot at Dollar stores too. I think Walmart has good prices on Fake Aquarium plants. Or Ebay. Good Luck.
