Is it a coral? A rock? It is alive!

Noticed this after the algae started to receed in my new tank setup. Item #1 is definatly alive, it seems pulse every once and a while. Item #2 seems to look like jello, but it looks like something is moving inside [/img]

    Temperature & Salinity

We have just added uncured LR and I am wondering what is the preferred temperature and salinity for a reef tank? My LFS has recommended 78d but I have read mid to high 80s. Interesting about SG my deep six shows a range of 1.020-1.023 and I have read 1.024-1.025. Needless to say this can be...

    Silly hydrometer question

We recently purchased the Coralife deep six hydrometer. On the package it says the you should season the needle for 24 hours in water. What it does not say is what kind of water to use. Fresh or salt? If the answer is salt then what do you do in a new startup tank that you don't know if the...

When to add micro inverts & det

Thanks for your reply. There is a lot of information out there on fish but it seems that the world of Inverts and tank clean-up crews is somewhat limited. Even IPSF and Inland Aquatics do not have much information on their web sites in understanding how these micro animals live and what there...

When to add micro inverts & det

We are just getting ready to start a new 80 gal system. The question is when can or when should we add detritivores and micro-invertebrates. Can they be added with we add live rock or wait until the tank has cycled? Planning on purchasing live sand activator from Indo Pacific Sea Farm. Thanks
