im using a 5g for the fry and they r fine, anything is better than a net

when i used a net, i put them in for 24hours, if they didnt drop i let them out as all fish get stressed in a net, which is why is use a seperate tank.

good for u! im not changin water 2day as they arent even day old but defo in morn and will probs use half main tank water and half treated tap water. good luck with the fry, keep me updated

i clean it v rarely.... i no thats bad but i knew there was a build up of good bacteria. i WANTED to clean the fry filter every week now, but i may add some the established filter pads and let the good bacteria grow. btw she had 30 or more babies, all just less than an cm long, no stillbirths...

um, i dont have bio-media in any of the 2 filters, cant i just cut a pice of filter pad from the established filter and add it to the U1?

thanks! well, um the water rite now is: nitrites - 0ppm nitrates- 10-20ppm (bit high, may change her water tonite) ammonia- 0ppm pH- 7.0 - 7.2 so i think tis cycled, will do every other daily tests to make sure. 5g tank has new fluval u1, 20g tank has v old (defo 3 months running) fluval...

well, used as in used for past 5 days.....as in bought it a few days ago but have used it in those few days but when i cleaned it it was manky!

becareful with the fry, too many in a net(which arent very good anyway) will kill them. but moving them around too much will kill them to. i learnt the hard way. after moving 28 babies several times into different tanks and adding a filter half way through i lost them all within 5 days :(. so...

i plan to change the water 20-40% every day when the fry r born and test the water every other day. as for the water i will test the tap water either tonite or tomorow. as for cycled....i sorry but bit of a newbie to that word even tho ive kept tropical fish for bout 5 years!!!!
