    Substrate Heating Cables?

I don't know how warm these would get but I would be concerned about the heat being too hot for bottom fish. I would think that it would have to be too hot for their comfort so it could heat all the water. Sent from my XT907 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Some Advice for a newbie please!

The things that I am wanting to compare are how easy it is to clean, how quiet they are, and how it moves the water for the different types of filtration. Sent from my XT907 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Some Advice for a newbie please!

Most people will tell you to get a filter rated for double your tank size. I have an AquaClear 70 on a 35g tank. I find it quite and allows me to easily change or clean the filter material. Down the road I plan on getting a Fluval C4 to do a side by side comparison. Then I'm buying a second of...

Some Advice for a newbie please!

So the cheapest is better for your fish, less likely to be treated. I am still cycling but I don't plan on changing the poly fil very often, only when the tank starts to look cloudy again. The reason I changed it so much already was the first couple of days with the sand and I wanted to make...

Some Advice for a newbie please!

Yep, poly fil, really cheap and works great. I replaced it three or four times when I first put sand in my tank as it removed the sand Sent from my XT907 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Some Advice for a newbie please!

The orange could be the color from your substrate. I am using pool filter sand and it turned my sponge orange as it removed all the smaller dust. The water change probably stirred up some dust from the substrate and clouded the water. I have put quilt stuffing into my filter to clear up my water...

Is my 1 gallon useful for anything now?

You could turn it into a 1 gallon punch bowl. Use it as centerpiece for a party and maybe adapt the filter to be a flowing faucet?

First attempt at a stock for 35g

Trading Cory's for Loaches, figured they would help move the sand more as well.

First attempt at a stock for 35g

How much stock should I put into AqAdvisor's calculator for fish load? It say's I will be at 117% stock but I don't want to overload my fishies!

How often to test water and what shoudl I expect once I stock my tank?

Nitrates are not the only thing you are cleaning out when you do a PWC, it is just the by product we can test for. Once you are good and stable most people would tell you to test once a week. If you are doing weekly PWCs then just test before then. Overall your levels look pretty good. How...
