    LED lighting, decisions decisions

Great looking tank. I really like the looks of the light in there.

    LED lighting, decisions decisions

Looks like the Vega will be out soon too with customizable LED pucks. Looks interesting. But again, I don't want to take up too much room over the top of my tank. The Sol would probably work, but I like the small size of the nano better but e nano is just a hair too small for the width of my...

Thanks for the suggestion on the DIY but knowing myself, I won't do it. I have a hundred DIY projects I started and didn't finish. Oh well, yours do look good though. I am leaning towards going with the Kessil, but I think I will wait until the controller becomes available. I know Kessils are...

    LED lighting, decisions decisions

I have thought about DIY LED but I don't think I could make them look as slick as the AI or Kessil or JBJ.

    LED lighting, decisions decisions

Thanks for the reply. I was starting to wonder if anyone was still participating in this forum. I do like the ai, but I don't want to hang anything from the ceiling and I am trying to avoid straddling the tank from side to side.

I am also thinking maybe a light by JBJ. Any suggestions for others or for the ones I listed would be greatly appreciated. Anyone have experience with these lights?

    LED lighting, decisions decisions

Hello all, I am looking at getting a different light for my tank and I can't decide. I would love some input. My tank is 17 gallons and measures 22" long x 11" wide x 16" height. I currently use a crappy odyssea light with 2 actinic and an MH. I was told the light was 15,000k. Upon further...

    pH swings

I feel it could also be the fact that the Alkalinity is too low which could cause pH swings. I am building alkalinity up by 1.1meq/l to get a reading of 2.8 meq/l the bottle of alkalin8.3 lists the acceptable alkalinity range is 7-12 dKH or 2.5-4.3 meq/l. I will probably bring it up a little...

    pH swings

Hello all, Just wondering if anyone has any experience with their pH getting really high (9.0) during the day and dropping back down to 8.3 at night. I am having this issue and I don't know how to stop it. I had the red algae "Macro Feast" by reef nutrition in my tank. I removed it thinking...

    Peppermint shrimp deaths

No copper. I have tested source water and tank. I think they weren't getting enough food. One shrimp attacked my frogspawn and I saw it swallow some. So, I think it either died from the frogspawn or lack of food. I have remedied that and everyone is alive and well. No more attacks on...

    First fish

Ok. Thanks. I appreciate your input. I also believe in being patient. I have been testing water religiously and it is cycled. I have added extra pods to the tank and let them establish themselves for 2 weeks. The tank has been getting perfect parameters for about 3 weeks. Both of my LFS' agree...

    First fish

The tank was started on 3/5/2012. It is cycled. My rock and sand filtered out all of the nitrates. Converted it all to nitrogen gas. I have tested the water myself and through two LFS, same results as I get.

Welcome. I am new too, so unfortunately I can't be of too much help. All I know is there are many opinions on how to do things. Just do a ton of research before purchasing and look for good deals. Have fun with the build! Can't wait to see it's progress.
