I know there are several who read this thread that have the 54 gallon corner aquarium like myself. Can any of you tell me what type of sump and protein skimmer you have. Space is such an issue in the odd sized stand. I haven't had a skimmer but think I should add one as I am having a problem...
My button polyps recently stopped extending their tentacles. All my water tests are good. Do they require some special foods or chemical added to the water? I had them for 5 months with no problem until recently.
I have a 54 gallon SW corner tank. I have some live rock and a medium depth sand bed. The only equipment I have is a heater and 2 Koralia Power Heads. I recently replaced my T5 fixture with a LED fixture. I may add more equipment in the future but right now everything is doing well as is. I have...
I think I bought a Dud. He is still hiding. The lady at the fish store acted line Dragon Goby are known for digging a hole in the sand and staying in it. Too bad she didn't tell me that when I bought him. He was swimming around like crazy at the fish store. ***disappointed***
My dragon goby has been hiding since I put him in the aquarium 8 days ago. He was swimming all over the place in the fish store and sifting sand like crazy. I thought he would be fun to watch but not so far. Is this normal?
No corals yet. Since I am not testing for calcium or alk, would those variations show up in my test for ammonia, nitrates, nitrites or ph? Maybe I should be testing for calcium and alkalinity???
You will be glad you did! If you start with freshwater, since saltwater requires different types of equipment, you will be less likely to switch right away because you haven't gotten much use of that equipment and you will hate to re-buy.
According to my fish store, this brown algae is common in new tanks. He sold me a Mexican Turbo Snail and a common Sea Urchin. I am not sure who has been busy cleaning but the rocks are looking a lot better! I would say 50% of the brown algae is gone. I tested my levels again today and Ammonia...
I have started to get a coating of brown algae like stuff on my rocks. I have kept it cleaned off the back glass. Is this normal? How do you get rid of it? My Nitrates, Nitrites and Ammonia are all still at Zero.
If you want salt, get salt. I have had a fresh water aquarium for over 10 years and recently added a salt water aquarium. It is a different animal. I don't think my fresh water knowledge has helped me at all. I LOVE my salt water tank!
The tank is doing great. I have 2 fish in the aquarium. It is day #4 and my Nitrites, Nitrates and Ammonia are still at 0. I am getting ready to go out of town next week for only 2 nights. With my fresh water aquarium, I never worry about the fish going a couple of days without food. Should...
