Ok so I finally got to my display tank and changed 10 gallons of water tonight and removed all the decorations but a couple. I removed the carbon and added prime and stress coat along with the ridick plus also raised temp to about 83°F or so. I hope I don't loose any of my little buddies :(

My 25w hood is for the 5.5 gallon the ten take two 15w maxx. The fixtures are made on the hoods I can't change them as they are one piece assembly. Only thing I can do for now is change the bulbs. :( lack of funds

Rivercats do you know if I can use a cfl bulb in my incandescent as long as it is 25w or less on my 5.5 since that's the Maxx rating. I've been treating my platy tank for ich since the 9th when I purchased an adjustable heater. Had noticed the ich two days before. I started to treat with salt and heat. Yesterday I noticed another spot so am continuing the treatment. However today I noticed my heart has what seems to be algae...

Ok thank you I will definitely look into it is there substrate that is better for live plants or can I just use a different gravel.

Thank you and yes I'm thinking about it to be honest I don't really like the blue rock but it came in the tank so was a money saver. But is it easy to change the substrate I've heard I can't without risking shocking my fish.

My light is a zoomed labs 15W2000H 120v came with the tank. I can use a 25w 60hz maxx in this one.
