It could be the one chic thing. Thats how pebbles looked to start, towards the end he was nothing more than a head and long tail. If it ever happens to me again Im going to isolate immediately in a different tank.
Nice tank and cool puffs. Please watch and make sure they are all eating with 3 in a 10 gal. I broke the 5 gal per dwarf rule myself with 3 in a 10 gal (against advice here) and unfortunately one of them became the weak one and never got snails. I fed him in isolation and really took care of...
Thats a lot of fish. I dont pretend to give advice or criticize anyone, most of everything I know I learned here. The puffer fish was not your fault it was the pet store but a bit of research is always good anyway. I now consider puffers like pirahnas. I once but a betta in with 2 dwarfs and...
Terrance thanks for joining in and for the nice words. I'm thinking of doing a floating/hanging plant to fill that void. After your comment it appeared evident to me how empty it actually is up there. Your tank looks nice and real fun for dwarfs. When you watch them it is so obvious that...
Here's the most recent update to the puffers tank. A peaceful Budha and a big square leafy bush. The bush is made by Marina, it's almost like it was made for Dwarf Puffers they love it. Anybody else have dwarf puffer tank they can share in this thread?
That looks nice man. Watch your wallet. I started with a 5 gallon with 2 painted Tetras per my daughters request. Within 3 months of that I ended up going bananas and now have a 20g long community, a 10g dwarf puffer tank, 2 Betta bowls, and a snail breeding bowl. So yes... addicting.
Awsome setup. Did they kill the shrimp or just eat it when it was dead? Mine lived in harmony with their house keeping ghost shrimp until I found the shrimp on my kitchen floor. It actually jumped out of the tank through the hole surrounding the filter house. I guess he just couldn't handle...
My final decision (for now). I'm going to continue using the plastic quart container, semi covered, unfiltered, small plastic plant. I have confiscated a small screen strainer basket I've used for rinsing fruit and dedicated it for this. Every Saturday pour the whole container through the...
Thanks Aaronjohn but Ive learned from other puffer keepers here when I started my puffer quest that the key to happy puffers is space. I have 2 dwarfs in a 10 gallon which is good. I have thought about using a floating breeder and drilling a small hole in the bottom. This way the snail waste...
I also agree with you bubbles. I have a yellow mystery snail that is very nice, but I dont think I want hundreds of these little guys though. If they would breed in lnside my dwarf puffer tank I would do that, but my dp's would eat themselves to death.
Thank you everyone. I know it seems silly but I need these snails. The "water changes" OBVIOUSLY. I do change most of the water a couple times a week. Terrance much appreciated, I knew that would be your answer, makes sense to me. Would it be advisable to raise these pond snails in my 20...
I keep going with a dark secluded lagoon type theme.
I added a large purple silk plant which my ud catfish loves.
I put my aligator skull back in with the airstone inside, wedged between a large rock and some smaller rocks. Behind there is a private condo for the smallest fish...
I read several places that breeding pond snails was very easy low maint. and it is. I started with a bag of snails from petsmart, put a small plastic plant in a disposable quart container full of room temp tap water and voila... eggs growing everywhere. Until the eggs start developing I add...
