flourish excel has worked wonders for me, i dont run c02 and when i started using excel, any existing brown algae died off, and my plants started shooting out everywhere. I have anubias and java ferns right now.
I just set up a 20long and I currently have java ferns, anubis, and hairgrass.
I'm using a 10k 31 watt t5ho and a actinic blue 31 watt t5ho for a total of 62 watts. They are planted in eco complete. If the light is on about 6 hours a day, is this too much light?
I use api leaf zone water...
Yeah, originally after I set it up but before I transferred anything over the oh was at 7.8 so hopefully it equalize at that. The tap here is 8.2 and that's what my 10g was steadily sitting at with sand.
It does have live plants, 6 java fern and an anubis. Any ideas where I can get some good carpet plants?
Just tested my Ph thismorning and it's down to 8 now. Might still be trying to equalize somewhere. Fish are still good though, very active.
Tetras don't touch the shrimp, the gourami hasn't either so far. All is peaceful haha.
Everything is going fine still as far as the cycle, I did buy a zoo med double t5 hood though, so that should be better than the crappy 17 watt aqeon hood.
The only thing is that the ph has risen from 8.2...
I guess I'll just stick to using a bubbler then? It's neon tetras, ghost and cherry shrimp, and ocos for now.
I want a larger fish but I don't know if a dwarf gourami will haresses the fish and shrimp?
I'm gonna pull out my actual Camera after work tonight and grab some zoomed and clear shots! Just want to be safe, to be honest it looks like sole sort of mold.
Okay so I went ahead and bought my new aquarium today! I bought eco complete and set it up, I'm gonna let it sit for half the day or until tomorrow and transfer everything over at one time.
Should an aquaclear 20 be fine on a 20long you think? I'm gonna get a powerhead for circulation.
Hello everybody,
I've recently had a new growth show up in my aquarium about 5 days ago. It's a white colored circular thing. It's growing on the back of my aquarium glass and directly over brown algae on one of my plants, completely clearing/killing the brown algae off of the leave and...
I have been told that is cyanobacteria, harmless to fish and some fish and snail/shrimp will even eat it. Everytime I put my driftwood in the water it starts covering it in about a day. So I just have kept my driftwood out for the time being until I can get it figured out for sure. I've been...
Okay so I've had my 10g tank set up for about a month now, i added my fish 2 weeks ago and everything has been perfect.
everything is 0 including nitrates and Ph a steady 8.2.
But now I'm finding myself wanting a bigger tank...a 20 regular or long. If I switch everything over to a bigger tank...
mine did the same thing the first day they were in there.
Now they are invisible during the day, hidden beneath my sand. During the night and early morning they are sprawled all over the sides of my tank devouring all my brown algae. Just give them time :)
okay, I will wait and see how well that works for now.
On another note, I have a piece of driftwood that I bought from fluval. I have boiled it, baked it at 400 degrees for 4 hours, and then placed in into my tank in no matter what I do there's always a thin mucus like clear/white...
Okay, so I finally got my aquarium cycled the other day after 3 weeks. I added my fish and have quite a few live plants growing in it.
My problem now is that I have a pretty bad brown algae problem. It's growing on all the sides of the tank, all over my sand, and on my plants. It started...
