    ABS pipes?

to be honest, id rather have used PVC as i can plumb that easily. ABS is joined with a 'welding glue'. more effort than its worth then?

    ABS pipes?

the LFS that I have ordered my tank from only sell ABS pipes. i have never used them before. they assure me that PVC is no good long term (erosion) anyone used ABS for their set-up's? is it worth it? "If you are planning a reef tank, we recommend that you use ABS piping grade A or B not...

    39w or 80w? T5

the unit im looking at to cover my 100gal is comprised of 6 x T5's. the standard wattage available is 39, but is it worth paying that little extra for the 80's? i mean, more WPG is better, right? im into SPS but may decide to keep some LPS coral too, and the tank is around 24" deep btw. thanks!

    help

Ok, I'd hold off on the water changes during a cycle until the am=0 and the nitri=0, let nature do the rest. Water changes can slow your cycle right down IME. Start your pwc's when you detect nitrates (as above). you've got some good advice there, I'd make it a priority to get an accurate test kit.

is it possible to place one male betta in a 5 gal tank with 3 females and no problems

Iv kept bettas for years. 5 seems a little small. I'd go no smaller than a 15, with adequate live planting. But, it all depends on the fish. I currently have a 20g heavily planted tank with 1 male and 3 females and have had no issues. Some males have far more aggressive tendancies than others...

    Unexpectied killer

    What brand was it?

    Unexpectied killer

its a little odd for a submergible component to contain untreated oxidising metals - i'd consider other sources also, just in case..

    sump RO/DI?

My 5 stage removes salt of moderate concentrations, also. Good point about the membranes though. I guess if the sump has adequate sediment filtration so as to prevent larger particles entering the membranes it should be ok. TBH, I think that the output of an RO/DI correlates to the quality of...
