No offense taken its not my tank it's a tank at work I'm just trying to help them get it back on track. We do water changes about every 10 days. It's at a marina lab so we use ocean water that has gone through a series of sand filters and then uv sterilized.
Thanks for all the advice. I believe they have the standard carbon filter for the bio mini and a small bag of bio balls. The tank does not get direct sun light but I just found out that the light is on for 10 hrs a day. I changed the time to 4 hr a day for now. Can I use an old tooth brush for...
Hello all
I recently got addicted to saltwater and started a 20 gal. I volunteer at marine mammal facility and in the office we have a 10 gal tank that needs some serious help it's over grown with what i think is green hairy algae. I need some advice one a cuc that can clear cut the algae...
Hello All
I have had a 29 gal up and running for over a month. I have around 20 lb of live rock 2 green chromies, 1 clearer shrimp and a small cuc. My question is can I add 2 clown fish and then down the road some coral/anemone of will that be to much ?
So I have had my tank cycling for 2 weeks now and my Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate are all 0 ppm. I had a spike of ammonia about 10 days ago. Does this mean I'm done cycling? It's seams very fast.
I had a small spike of ammonia after about 2-3days. I have about 15 lb of rock, 2" of live sand and someone mangroves. I also got some bio balls from my friends tank that has been up for about a year. The lights that I was recommended was the TaoTronics TT-AL09 Dimmable Aquarium Coral Reef LED...
I have two HO T5 lights right now but I was shown some sweet led lights that I'm going to invest in and especially if I'm not going to add an anemone for 8 months. I decided to add the fish after testing the water and seeing it had change to 0 ammonia and a .025 nitrite
Good to know about the canister filter. I don't have a power head just the canister filter. The tank has been set up for a little more then a week. I just added two chromies today. I'm planing on leaving this set up for a month or more and then add a anemone, clown fish and cleaner shrimp
I was wondering if I need to use a protein skimmer when I start adding anemones and some coral or will the filter be enough. I have a Sea Clone 100 but it looks bad when it's on the tank so I want to see if I could get away with out using it
Thank you so much for all the great information. I was also wondering about the need for an air stone or some type of air supply. The top is open so there is good air exchange on the surface but do I need more?
Thank you for all the advise. What type of lights would you recommend? I was planing on adding another 10 lb of live rock do you think that will be sufficient enough?
