i'm not new too keeping fish, i have a few fw aquariums running, a 46 gal bow front with two xp3's a 25w uv bla bla the works but i want to set up a small neon tetra tank but i dont really know much about neons and i have never had such a small aquarium.

i'd like to also that i am not trying to bash the companies who make these fine filters, and a lot of them in small print actually state the real gph right on the box, rena lists the xp3 at 185gph i believe which is pretty dead on with mine, i do have mine packed with a lot of bio media...
i use a the python and match my tap temp with my tank temp using an infrared thermometer, and i use prime just before i add the new water but i treat for the total volume of the tank even if i am adding only 30-50% of the water...
