I have a 10g tank with some juvi cories, bristlenose, and a few guppy fry. This tank also houses my entire cherry and crystal red shrimp populations.
Now from what I've read the shrimp can't catch the ich, but my question is will the shrimp tolerate a heat treatment? I know CRS like a lower...
Hi Andy,
Yes I have read that Hexamita article and that poor water quality may have brought it on. My water is usually quite good but occasionally my nitrates did get a bit high. For the last month or so I've been able to maintain lower nitrates, but perhaps that was too little too late.
All...
Hey there, thanks for the tips!
I guess the salt bath is to help heal this hole that has started and the API would be to help with the actual HITH?
I have metronidazole and yesterday started mixing it into his food. Anyone know if I should also put it in the tank in addition to adding it to...
About a week ago I noticed a bit of a bump on my angelfish and I chalked it up to him being a bit of a derp and thought he had scratched himself and developed a bump. The bump went away the next day and then it appeared like he had scratched himself and the dead skin was peeling off a little...
yeah I notice sediment builds up on the leaves of my plants after just a couple days, I'm thinking a major contribution might be the Wardley shrimp pellets I've been feeding? It wasn't until after I'd started using them that I read its not a good brand. I'm stopping using them now and might just...
I thought there might be a bit of build up in the sand, but I'm pretty sure I have a few trumpet snails rummaging through there so was hoping they'd be shifting through the sand breaking up anaerobic pockets, but I haven't seen them in a while so I think I might start shifting through it myself...
I thought about adding some crushed coral (added a handful to my 29 and its hovering at about 7) but someone else advised me: "do not raise your ph over 7. Ammonia converts to ammonium at ph under 7 which is considerably less toxic to fish. While bacteria might form faster at ph over 7 the...
Hey, both filters have been going at least 5-6 weeks and both have media from my established 29 gallon and so should be cycled. I feed 3-4 shrimp pellets per day (split between 5juvi cories), some days they get blood worms instead, so I don't think I'm over feeding.
yes I do use root tabs...
My tank is having an issue with ammonia right now.
I have a 10 gallon tank with 5 juvi cories in it. It has been established for almost a year. Tank parameters are stable except for the ammonia - 0-10 nitrates, 0 nitrites - but I have a low ph - it hovers around 6.
The tank is currently running...
Hmm so when I got home from work today the bump was greatly reduced in size, so I'll just stick with frequent water changes rather than try get a qt tank set up (I THINK I have everything for one, but would have to search).
And thanks for the food tips I'll try get a more varied died going...
thanks for your help! If its viral does that mean its contagous (should I qt him)? I'll try find that food you suggested, but what kind of fresh food would you suggest? I put cucumber/zucchini in sometimes for the snails but the rams don't seem too interested in them.
Hi, thanks for the reply! It's dark in the tank now but I think it was just flesh/pink colored, not really red. I just noticed the growth today but I don't think it could have been there more than a couple days. It seems just fleshy, not fuzzy at all.
Flakes are HBH tropical flake frenzy...
Hello,
I noticed today that my GBR has a large flesh colored bump on him. Might even be pimple-like.
He's in a heavily planted 29g tank with 3 other rams, 3 white/2 black skirt tetras, and 14 rummys. Tank's been up and running since April. I've had this ram for a few months now. The tank has an...
