I'm bumping up one of my tanks from 10 to 20 gal. I'm thinking of changing from pool filter sand to black sand. Even though I have let the bio wheel for the new filter soak in the existing tank and going to use some of the water from old to new tank would I be losing to much of the beneficial...
That's the way I was leaning once every 3 months or so. Just was wondering what others do. Don't know anyone else around here into fish keeping. Thanks guys
I'm curious on this point, how often do you guys clean your actual filter, not the media but the intake tube or the return spout. Not with my weekly water changes but how often?
Water temp is 78degree F. Yes I fast him. Then blanched and chopped up the peas small, no intrest they would just fall to the bottom. Then even stuck them on a end of a toothpick. He just swim into the pea and knocked it off still no intrest. Not sure what to do know. Tried the Epsom salt...
Anybody have advise. I have a great looking betta who had been fine for a long time. All of a sudden. Lathargic, weird positioning, swimming slow, not a huge appetite and just hangs out by the heater. Water parameters are perfect. Have don the Epsom salt laxative and tried blanched peas. He...
I'm interested in your guys thoughts. I have an established octagon 25 gallon tank. It's about 40" tall. I have 2 (body size) angel fish in it now I wanted to add some more my idea was to add 5 or 6 hatchets and 3 cories..over stocking or would be cool. I do weekly w/cs and tank is healthy?
My 10 gallon has a small diatom problem I think. Water parameters are fine I think.
Ammonia .25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate <10
So thinking about a octo catfish and cleaning plants and filter with mild bleach solution.
Big question is, I'll leave the filter media in the tank when I clean the filter but...
That's kinda what I was thinking and gonna use it for. So should I start a fish less cycle or use existing water from my other tanks? Also how should I keep the beneficial bacteria alive with no fish?
Do you guys alway have a quarantine tank running? Or just when ya get new fish. If not what if you have an emergency and need to transfer a fish. You won't have time to cycle it?
I'm new at all this so let me know if I'm over thinking this... Thanks
Ya thought that was the case just thought it would take less time for the ammonia to 0 out, but I have added ammonia about 8 times since the initial ammonia nitrites 0'd out and it always takes 24 to 48 hours for the ammonia to return to 0???
