For two days I have dosed 2ppm ammonia and ammonia and nitrite read zero in under 24hrs . I dosed to 4ppm yesterday and after 24hrs ammonia 0 , nitrite 2ppm . So i must be cycled to 2ppm ? If so is there much benefit in cycling to 4ppm if im only going to start with 3-4 small fish and slowly...

latest results are - ammonia 0 , nitrite 0 nitrate 40 . Just dosed back to 2ppm . fingers crossed might be getting somewhere :)

Is there anything i could do if it was limescale ?

My 55litre tank has been cycling now for 5 weeks (fishless with ammonia) and nitrite level is still ridiculous . nitrite has been way off the chart on my api liquid test for about 3 weeks . Is this normal ? I just now took 0.5mm of tank water and 4.5mm of tap water and the test still read 2+ppm...

Nah not bubbles , its small white particles . I turned off air stone this morning and left the filter running and it all settles out on top of water , turn it back on and it spreads out all round the tank . And no matter how long i run tap for its still there . ph of tap water is 7.6 . Could it...

ammonia and nitrates were steadily dropping to zero in less than 12 hours . havent touched the filter media . Do you think if i keep on making water changes nitrites will drop or do you think i should just leave alone and carry on dosing ammonia ?

I also added a java fern and anubias yesterday !

I had temp set at 30degrees before i turned down heater and changed out water which was at 24degrees . Also this happened 3 days ago and since ive made several large water changes and no change in nitrite levels . i was well looking forward to getting some fish too :(
