So today I did a 25% water change, cleaned my filter pads(in aquarium water) and added a new filter cartridge to my hang on(old filter cartridge is still in place). Now(2hrs later) my water is getting cloudy and has that faint "new fishtank" odor. Should I be worried, or is that just a bacteria...

Also I no intention of keeping the ciclids for the duration if their life cycle. I have a pond on my parents property in central Florida that I put them in once they outgrow their surrounds.

I used 90% of the gravel from the old tank, and have the filter from the old tank running the the new aquarium too.

So, I've got this 20 gallon acrylic aquarium, and I like the idea and look of a planted tank, but don't know the first thing about what kind if plants, equipment, time, ect. Would anybody care to break it down for me or link to an existing post/website where I can find some more info?
