How often do you feed your snowflake?? Shouldn't be chasing around fish if it's well fed.. Mines swims around at night, but he doesn't try and eat anything..

    Salt mixing

I use a measuring cup, I usually change 15 gallons a week, so it comes out to about 7.5 cups.. I mix mines before I start, let my pump circulate the water.. By the time I'm done siphoning the water to change out, it's usually good to go..

    Protein skimmer

Reef octopus is good.. Was using a remora aqua c pro for my 55.. Rated up to 120 gallons.. Their new improved design is much better then their old ones.. It's a hang on as well, which is convenient and can be placed in a sump..

    New to this. Please help

A side note on crabs and snails.. Make sure you do your research on species.. Some hermits can be bad, such as Halloween, others can be good such as zebras (I have about 14 zebras in my tank right now).. Some snails can be bad, move around rocks and decor, such as turbos, others like trochus...

Another fish you could try is a hawkfish.. Several different variations, the flame hawk is especially nice.. I've kept them on and off throughout the years, and they are amusing to watch.. As for the chromis question, I used to always use blue/green chromis to cycle my tanks, back before live...

    Who's using canister filters?

I actually used a HOB power filter for a year when I first got into saltwater years ago.. Worked fine.. I'd say go with whatever fits your budget.. That's why I used a HOB power filter for so long, because I was in high school and didn't have a lot of money.. The key really is water changes and...

    125 gallon stocking question

I have a 125 gallon tank that I just bought about 3 weeks ago.. Had a 55 gallon fowlr for about a month before I got the 125.. Wasn't planning on upgrading so soon, but it was only $300 with stand and tank on CL.. Anyways, I turned my old 55 into a sump, used my rocks and gravel from my 55, as...

    Snow Flake Eel

I have a snowflake in my community tank, gets along fine.. Maybe it's because he's tiny? Or maybe it's because he's so well fed? I feed mines every 2-3 frozen krill and he seems okay.. Here's a picture..

55 gallon cycling and stocking questions

Yeah, I had a snowflake before with a few hermits, I kept the eel pretty well fed, so it didn't really bother the hermits much, but wouldn't be surprised if they ended up eaten eventually..
