- I had an aquarium when I was about 12 yrs old, my dad had one custom made for me. I very much enjoyed it and have always wanted another one. Now many, many years later I decided to get another one, not as big as the first one I had but a good starter one for the amount of room I have here. It is a 20 gallon tank and I have had it for about 4 months. ALl those years ago I do not remeber ever having this many problems with the water. I never checked the chemical levels and never worried about nitrates, ammonia, etc.
Right now I only have 4 fish in my tank. I have lost a few, I did not set up properly when it was new.
