    Lost an invert acclimating it

Maybe the theory is that of "Survival of the fittest." If the fittest survives these tests only the best quality livestock will reach the maybe more novice tank owners & will survive the acclimation. Makes sense. Sounds like extra work. But it's probably kinda like LFS's that quarantine before...

    Lost an invert acclimating it

I'm acclimating a new shrimp now! So far so good. Any signs to look for that I should pull the drip & let him settle or rush & pour water out??

    Lost an invert acclimating it

I do usually QT. wasn't planning on it w/ this guy b/c I don't have a QT set up at the moment. I usually take a few hours to drip too but just remove a small scoop of water every 15 mins or so after probably 1/3 initially of the amount of the bag dripping in. But I've never done that big dump of...

    Lost an invert acclimating it

Tkey3425: Is this just your invert way or any new fish? I'm surprised I haven't lost more animals!!! I haven't gotten any new animals in quite awhile. I guess I've just been lucky & maybe have stressed quite a few out. I just feel terrible. Again, frustrated that you don't hear these things til...

    Lost an invert acclimating it

I'm saying after the 1/3 add of slow-drip DT water to the bag, then dump 90% out... I think I thought you meant put the 90% from DT back in the bag. But you're saying drip into the 10% w/ the shrimp. Got it now ;) Thks!

    Lost an invert acclimating it

That's all great info, thank you! Ya know... they may have their inverts on a separate system. IDK. They have very few fish in the invert tanks. I started him a 1x 1sec drip. The only real explanation is the toxicity rose from the differences in the water. I'm not sure how dumping 90% out...

    Lost an invert acclimating it

I floated then was drip-acclimating a Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp from the LFS & he died before I even got him in the tank. I've never lost an animal acclimating it!! Heck, I've only ever lost 2 Bengaii Cardinals weeks apart. The 1st I had had a few weeks, then 1 I had had a few months, died a...

    A funny...

Ha ha ha... All funny replies guys!! Yes, ha ha... they have 3, this is the middle 1. I have 3 as well. This child does spend quite a bit of time at our house, I guess she felt comfy. I think she does have behavioral issues but I don't discuss it w/ the mom. The mom is great about owning up &...

    A funny...

A neighborhood child went into my unoccupied house as we were out front & dumped 1/2 each of TWO packages of food into my 29g tank. After I discovered the incident several minutes later, I was able to skim some of floating pellets off the top & retrieve the sinking wafers. I can't help but...

Snails in a baby rearing tank?

Nice!! I have my Bengaiis in separate tanks at times too!! Stinkin things can't get along! You have same prob?? My "babies" were not clowns. I'm guessing some kind of pod. I threw them in the sump-refugium.

    What's your ultimate tank?

I wasn't into tanks when we bought this house so I didn't plan ahead for room for the tanks... but my excuse for more tanks IS the kids!! I have two bigger tanks in our family room (1 FW & 1 SW), then had a tank in each of my 3 kids rooms AND a QT SW tank on the kitchen counter... I took a pic...

    What's your ultimate tank?

What's your ultimate tank if you had some extra money, just enough to get your tank? I think mine is kinda humble... I'd want a 40-55g Bowfront w/ a dark or black wood higher stand (32"+) w/ a matching canopy & LEDs for corals (I haven't gotten any yet but might some day). I mainly just wanted a...

Snails in a baby rearing tank?

I just wanna say Good luck! Hope to be doing this someday myself! I was finding on my filter sock what I believe were hatchlings. I never saw the eggs but thought they were laying. I may need to just move my clowns to a tank on their own.

    What is this??

I'm just guessing... a sponge?? It looks greenish tinted but that may just be light or the camera. Would you say it's white-white'ish clear?
