Our main tank is a 55 gallon, planted, freshwater community tank. We have a variety of mature rainbowfish, cories, knife fish, and other bottom dwellers. We have nothing fancy in the way of CO2 or filtration systems, but we try to keep the tank as natural as possible (i.e. live plants, driftwood, rock, substrate, etc.) We do regular water changes, and try to keep a close watch on the ph levels, but it seems to keep creeping down to the 6.6 range; sometimes lower.
We recently have experienced an invasion of black skirt algae, and have been given differing advice, among which involves the addition of aquarium salt. I am hesitant to do this, but am open to anything.
