    Murder Mystery

He's a little bigger than 1/2 inch and after looking up more on amphipods, I think this guy's friendly. Yes Reefrunner, this is the guy who was staring at me. Now I'm back to the whodunnit stage...

    Murder Mystery

Ok, so after the lights went out, I peered into the tank and saw a small brown shrimp peering back at me. I tried to get a picture of it for ID'ing, but it ducked when I hit it with the flash. Now I was sure I had a target for my murder suspect, I took the rock out, ran fresh water in the...

    Murder Mystery

My darling lawnmower blenny is dead! :( It looks like someone ate his tummy and some of his face. 8O I have had him for over a month now and he has been eating well and very active. I checked my water and it is the same as usual - pH 8.1, SG 1.025, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, and nitrate 10. He has...

How fast can you increase the specific gravity?

I know, that's why I'm worried. I had measured both tanks with a swinging arm hydrometer, and they came out the same - 1.023. Then I borrowed my friend's refractometer to double-check (after I had added the fish) and it came out that they were quite different. Thus making me very worried, but I...

    adding new fish

If you want to keep your fish healthy, happy and alive stick to the magnificent collection you already have. I have recently had a tank crash and it is no fun. Understocking is the way to go! :D

How fast can you increase the specific gravity?

My clownfish were in a quarantine tank for over four weeks after a bout with marine velvet. The SG of the quarantine is 1.022. I acclimated them to the display tank over two hours and dropped them in. The main tank is 1.025. Is there any reason I should worry? Thanks! Michelle

Bubble Tip Anemone Splitting - caught on film!

Darn good question...I most definately didn't do it on purpose, but I can summarize what I have in my journal... The BTA was added 9/7 and began to split 11/10. I have her in a 26-gallon acrylic tank at 80 degrees and SG 1.025, pH goes from 8.0 to 8.4. I use C-Balance for calcium and all the...

Oceanic Reef Ready tank vs. anemones

Fist and most importantly, I'd like to tank all of you for the helpful and supportive discussions held on this site - I'm hooked! The question: Has anyone tried an Oceanic Reef Ready tank for keeping anemones? My goal is to set up a new tank for my BTAs that won't require me to clean the...

Bubble Tip Anemone Splitting - caught on film!

I have never had a condy, but I can tell you what I have seen and what I've read. In the store I saw a BTA that was stuck to the glass and on the base you could tell that it was starting to divide - like a section was beginning to pinch off. For mine though, I came home one day to feed her and...
