Axies can reach up to 18" long, with average being about 9-10". They should not be kept in a ten gallon tank. They are very messy, they eat a lot and poop a lot. They like to explore, they would not be happy in a ten gallon at all. You would have to do water changes at least three times a week...

    Show off your Betta(s)!

I just got this gorgeous guy today! He's a peachy color with red specks in his fins! Under the light at the pet store he had a shine of blue outlining / hi lighting in his fins too! Sooo pretty! :)

Am I right in saying that you need a canister filter for a chiller? I have a HOB filter so I'm not sure if I would also need to buy a canister filter for the chiller.. That's just from the chillers that I have found around google anyway, let me know if you know! Haha thanks! The weather here...

Ahh so cute! Haha, I love axies! Yes, my smallest is 4.5" and my biggest is 5.5", the other two are about 5.25" or so.. I like your tank set up! Very nice! I feed mine earthworms, frozen bloodworms, axolotl pellets (i found some on eBay) and frozen brine shrimp, sometimes.. Brine shrimp is so...

I didn't get a cooler for my tank.. I'm relying on central air in the house to keep the tank at a proper temp.. Coolers are crazy expensive! Lol. I just got my guys in Feb, so hopefully A/C is enough for the hot summers in Winnipeg! We'll soon find out! I used to have Mollies too before I got...

Yes I do! I have a HOB filter too.. It's Fluval C, rated 40-70gal. I have it set to the lowest flow setting. Which, honestly, i don't notice much of a difference between the max and low flow settings lol. What I did, is put my fake plants at the top floating in the way of where the water comes...

I don't have much to add to what was already said. But definitely keep them in a species only tank, only use feeder guppies or something as a treat. The reason is because 1) they will eat the fish, and 2) the fish will nip at the axie gills. Their staple diet is earthworms, if they are small...

    What's your turtle like?

I had a turtle growing up, they live a very long time! My turtle loved to go for walks around the house and outside. He had a favorite spot in the front yard under a big tree! I don't remember what type he was, I want to say red ear...? He had the red stripe on the sides of his head. We would...

    Axolotl

Hi there! Sand is okay for them once they get around 6" or so (in my opinion).. .5 - 1mm grain sand is what should be used. Most of the time the axie will spit out the sand they suck up.. But you want to be safe, especially when they are little! Honestly I wouldn't worry about cannibalism...

    Separating a GBR Pair?

I have a pair of German blue rams but unfortunately, I can see that the female is going to die soon. Will the male be okay without her or will he get depressed? Should I get him a new buddy? I have only had them for about a week, they paired up right away. I believe she is just not taking to...

    serpaes and bettas

I would worry about the Serpae nipping the betta than the betta being aggressive.. I tried putting a paradise fish in my tank with Serpae and she died within 2 days.. They nipped her fins real bad. I would try something with less tempting fins!

    Mollies for Genetics

My male calico Creamsicle doesn't like Dalmatian mollies! He never showed any interest in any dalmatian female in my tank Haha. The guy at the pet store told me creamsicles won't breed with Dalmatians.. I don't believe that, never heard that one before.. I hope your male likes Dalmatians! Maybe...
