Filtered water is safe to drink. RO water is safe to drink. DI water is safe to drink it just tastes bad.
Lots of urban legends about RO and DI sucking things out of your body. They are laughably false.
Yeah split the line before the DI.
I used to have a tank and all that for drinking water but decided to tap the filter before the RO membrane. I grew up drinking tap water. The prefilters are more then I need. No waste water and it tastes just as good. Connected directly to a RO faucet.
Did you get a fast flush for it?
If not its cheaply done with hd parts. For the first five minutes run the unit with the ball valve open. You will get low TDS water from the start and your DI will last a lot longer.
I would set yours up like this. (ignore the xs)
RO waste line -> Tee >...
It will be fine. No booster pump is needed to go that distance. Plenty of pressure on the waste output.
I would definitely put a check valve in between to keep the tube from draining back when you disconnect it.
Emails are sent. Group Buy is live!
I ordered...
1 gallon high capacity GFO
4 Clear BRS media reactor canisters
500ml BRS Biopellets to top off what I already have
10ml Zeobak
1 gallon Mag chloride
a couple 1" uniseals
and some ph calibration packets.
Had some reward points and a $5 coupon...
The design doesn't do a great job at removing air from the siphon. Too much internal volume on the siphon so flow is low vs a utube style overflow that moves the same amount through a much smaller space.
A utube isn't necessarily the answer. About the only one I can recommend is a lifereef...
Right, its a surrogate. Just like a BTA. They will host anything if the right anemone is not present.
Do you know anyone who has a Magnifica or Gigantea and the clowns still hosts a magfloat?
You can probably balance them but I don't see a point. If you want more flow get a bigger overflow.
If you want more drains you might consider drilling the tank. It is the most reliable and cost effective solution. Drilling is easy but make sure the pane is not tempered.
CPR is designed to fail. Consider a LifeReef.
Use 1 overflow. With a HOB you need maximum flow through the device to get rid of bubbles. A CPR won't do that and needs an aqualifter to keep it going.
Either way snag an in tank ATO from autotopoff.com or similar and put this in your tank...
