Tried that, the old gasket is far to hard and has little or no compression capabilities can't even get the top down. I was think of using some bath sealant as a base layer, let it dry then put the gasket on. Trouble is, is how to get a small enough and uniformed bead in the gap?

Guys I have just replace the seal and covered it in silicone grease yet the bugger still is leaking around the seal. Any one know if this is a common fixable problem

I have a marine test kit for things like Nitrite, Nitrate, Ammonia and PH. Can I use this to test Freshwater, or are they specific to saltwater only. :thanks:
