I've gone back and forth probably 100 times between whether I want t5 or another led now lol.

Honestly I've gotten okay growth out of leds. I've just gotten much better from other lights especially halides. And your right about halides becoming obsolete I'm seeing a significantly smaller selection lately which is what deterred me from them. Which is why I'm going for a t5/led hybrid. The...
I'm thinking definitely t5 led combo now. A 4 bulb ati sunpower in conjunction with my buildmyled 14k.

What I'm getting at is with the house at 65 and my aquarium at 80 degrees. I don't think it's possible with either lighting to exceed the 80 degree mark. Metal halides maybe if you put them close enough to the water but then you wouldn't get the spread of light needed to evenly light the tank...

For a 120 I would do a 40 gallon breeder. For a 125 I would do a 40 long. The downside with the 125 is you are only going to fit a 12 inch wide sump in the stand but you'll have more length to the sump.

Phosphate checkers really aren't going to help you with gha since it's absorbing all of it as food. I'm having the same problem right now but I'm deployed and my wife is pulling her hair out. Just feed less and do more frequent water changes. If you're feeling really froggy you could start using...
Finally got the livestock in after 10 weeks in qt. 2 snowflake clowns and a starry blenny. That it for this year. I'll probably add more after I get back from my deployment.
