    Sick puffer?

Well, I found him dead this morning and he was really puffed up. His body was also abnormally soft when I touched it. Didn't find anything else besides the symptoms I described before. I'm really going to miss this cute ball of energy darting around in my tank :(

    Sick puffer?

Did two consecutive 50% PWC and added 10ml of melafix in there to no avail. He seemed fine right after the water change but this is him 3 hours later, worse than ever. He seems to have puffed up even more and keeps swimming to the surface and floating upside down. Seems he is taking his last few...

0 ammonia 0 nitrite 10 nitrate Salinity: 1.004 15 gallons No other creatures in the tank. No changes were made to the tank for the past 6 months, besides changing my filter because the other one spoilt ( I brought the filter media over to the new one ) this was changed around a month ago...

    Sick puffer?

Recently, I observed that my figure 8 puffer has been acting a little weird and seemed to have fattened immensely in size. This is VERY unusual as he seemed to have literally doubled in size overnight. Upon closer inspection, it seems that his pectoral fins retracted into his body because I...

    Tiny little creatures

Well I have fed my puffer snails in the past but I can guarantee you that those are not snails. Was thinking something along that lines of copepods or something like that.

    Tiny little creatures

They're probably harmless but I'm curious to find out exactly what they are. Can anyone help to ID these little mischievous creatures?

    Puffer fish in freshwater.

^^^^ The green spotted puffer is brackish when young and full marine when adult (wild adults spend most of their time in the ocean) . They will do well in freshwater for a very short period of time before health issues occur. Do not keep it in freshwater please. And yes they are very aggressive...

    Wiped out

Hmm interestingly enough I found 4 batches of eggs on the filter today. I might just wait for the eggs to hatch instead of going to the fish shop. Kinda cool that one snail managed to lay so many eggs in such a short amount of time [emoji16]

    Wiped out

Hmm but I really need a substitute to wear down the puffer's teeth [emoji20] I guess I'll try to get a new batch of pond snails. Meanwhile, does anyone know any good food alternatives to wear down the puffer's teeth?

    Betta tank mates

The answer is maybe. Firstly, it all depends on your betta's personality. He could be an aggressive fish serial killer or a shy peaceful fish that just wants to get along. Secondly, the type of fish you're keeping the betta with. I would say it's safe to keep your betta with the otocinclus and...

    Fish for a 10 gallon?

Fish with individual character.... Ever thought about puffers? You could do with a pair of dwarf puffers in the 10 gallon or a single red eye puffer. I would personally go with the latter if they are available, puffers in general have a bombastic personality and will learn to recognise their...

    Wiped out

I have a 5 gallon pond snail culture in a bucket that has recently been wiped out by some kind of worm. There is literally only one lone survivor unfortunately. I transferred the lone survivor into a smaller bucket, cleaned out the 5 gallon and filter with bleach and hot water and filled it up...
