    Getting Started and Confused

From what I can gather, I think I am planning on a FOWLR as I was not planning on growing coral unless there is some benefit to that. I will look into sumps. Are there any good articles that are recommended. When I clicked on the article sticky in this forum, it said that it was not found. Thanks.

    Getting Started and Confused

So, I've had several freshwater tanks over the years, most recently a 55g community that I had to tear apart a couple years ago due to a long distance move. I've never went the way of saltwater before as I've always started the research and found the information confusing and sometimes...

    Free: Community Tank Fish

I am relocating several hundred miles and unable to take the fish with me due to several factors involved with the move. The stock consists of: 1 Angelfish 3-neon swordtails 1 pleco 7 - Serpae Tetras 2-3 platy's/moons a few pepper cory's (there were 6 at 1 time but I know 1 died) - rarely see...

    Catfish recommendations

Awesome...thanks for the rec's...I will see what kind of stock the LFS has. I like the kuhli loaches but my wife will not allow any fish that remotely resemble anything snake-like. I have had luck with the bumblebee's before but that was the only time I have ever seen them around here. I...

    Catfish recommendations

I have a 55 gallon community, currently has 7 serpae tetra, 3 swords, 4 platys, and an angel. I am looking for good catfish ideas. I had cory's in there but I don't have any luck with them, never seem to do well in my tanks. What other types of catfish can I look into for a 55 gallon?

Going on holiday... food and lights?

Agree with the others, for that short of time, you will be fine with lights on and no feeding. If you would ever be gone for extended periods, you could always plug the lights into a timer and get an automatic fish feeder. It is not a feeder block but a battery operated device that you can...

    Anyone know about Dwarf Puffers?

Here is my take on your questions: 1.Feed snails/live bloodworms, brine shrimp, etc... 2.No special equipment would be needed but just have good filtration and keep the tank around 80, otherwise I say use what you like. 3.5 gallons would be good for 1, IMO.

    Angel fish - lone survivor

I would say that you should make sure your water quality is good before adding anything else at this point. Are you testing for ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, etc...? If so, what are your readings and such?

    Normal Behavior?

Although I don't have an oxygen test kit, I would assume it is. I have an air pump running a large bubble wand and one of those ornament things (a clam that releases pretty big bubbles). Also, the filter creates good displacement on the surface as well. The cory's and serpae's rarely "come up...

What is a good heater for a 55 Gallon Tank?

Personally, I like this one...not sure of how it is rated but has served me well. Aqueon Pro Heater 200 - 200W - 13 5/8 in.

    Dead pleco...

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, had to run earlier but siva has it right.

    Dead pleco...

Sounds like it could be slime disease to me and yes it could affect the goldfish if that is the case.

    Normal Behavior?

Just to update, testing still reads the same but they all still hang around the top for the most part. They are all still alive so hopefully the worst has past at this point. It is just so strange to me that they spend so much time at the top. Oh well, every fish is different.

    First in the tank

I think you are fine with that order. I am a "bottom up" kind of guy, so I did the cory's and pleco first. I am actually going to have a similar set up except for an angel instead of the gouramis. I am having a lot of platy problems right now but I think I just got bad stock.
