The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an interest in aquariums or fish keeping!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I belong to a number of facebook groups and forums for aquariums/reptiles (I have a turtle not fish). This sort of behavior is unfortunately extremely common. People get downright hostile to the community if they don't get a magic bullet answer that will solve their problem instantaneously.
People on this forum don't owe you anything nor do they have all the answers to every possible scenario. Especially when you said and I quote "he looks fully recovered". Then your next update just hours later is "its dead, thanks for nothing".
I've bought multiple brands of test strips until I finally bit the bullet and just got the API master test kit. I did that because I pretty much proved they werent giving consistent accurate results. Yeah it's kind of a pain compared to just dipping a strip, but seriously, you cannot trust the...
So my water turned brown again. lol. However, I think I narrowed down the culprit to in fact being tannins from my driftwood (even though it seemed weird it took so long for them to start leeching into the water).
Zero algae of any kind grew in the tank this week. It still tinted brown toward...
While my well water sucks for hardness and pH; while most people with well water deal with a low pH, I live in an area extremely rich in limestone so my well water is in the my pH is high as all hell range. It is nice I generally don't have to worry about whatever the hell the city might decide...
So, I currently have a Marineland C360 in a 75G. Pet Smart had a $90 dollars off sale on the FX6. So I picked it up.
I have a turtle, so the extra filtration is certainly helpful. I'm just curious how powerful the current is on it. I guess for the intake as well as exhaust.
My turtle is...
While yes, with the cycle, your tank will appear "millky" for awhile. Another couple things to think about:
1. Did you wash your sand? Basically when you get sand, there is a lot of fine dust in it. You generally want to put the sand in a bucket, jam a hose down tot he bottom and run the...
So I completely emptied the tank, cleaned the tubing in my filter (I didn't clean the filter again). I wiped down the inside of the tank with distilled white vinegar/water solution. Soaked the decorations in the vinegar water solution. Rinsed everything off and refilled the tank. It's been...
I took the water parameters before I did the water change. Because I wanted to see if it would explain the brown water, Alas everything looked as expected the Nitrates weren't even particularly high for it being 7 days since the last water change.
I do a water change every 5-7 days. I cleaned...
So I have been running this aquarium for about 2 months now. Marineland C360 about half full 75 gallon tank. Occupant is a juvenile Razorback Musk turtle.
This is a recent development but the water has "tinted to a brackish" I honestly don't care about the color, I am just trying to...
To start off, I ended up getting rid of the sand substrate for now and have a bare bottom with big river rocks scattered about. (it does make everything easier to clean).
I don't know if there is another type of sand I should use. However you can see in this image below the substrate there...
