You're right. I figured the cycle was complete since everything was going fine. Didn't realize we started over when we replaced the filters.
I'll get a kit and start figuring things out. I might be on here more frequently with questions about levels and the right steps to take.
Thanks for the...
About two weeks ago, we replaced the cartridges in our filter. I'm getting we shouldn't have done that. I will start washing, but not replacing our cartridges.
We cycled our tank for a while before adding fish, but have yet to test our water. I've been hesitant to test it but I guess I need to...
Hello all,
It's been a month since we've got our tank situated and a school of Tetras swimming around. We also have some silver sucker fish dude that sucks on everything. My wife got him for algae control.
Everything was fine and dandy, but now our water has become cloudy and I can't figure out...
Greetings all,
Week 1 of the new tank has claimed many lives. From 4 glowies and 2 guppies down to a single guppy. The first guppy died while getting stuck in a silk plant. I never really liked silk plants, but my wife insisted.

What do you folks think? Any specific...
Why, after two days, is my tank cloudy? I don't feel I'm overfeeding, the fish eat what is given. The filter has been running constantly.
Where have I failed my fish?
I've read the article on cycling, but I want to be clear on a plan of action. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.
1. Let my two guppies poop. A lot.
2. Buy the tester kit.
3. Keep Ammonia or Nitrite equal to or less than .25 PPM
4. Keep Nitrate under 20 PPM
5. Test daily for those...
We did a little research on cycling the tank, but apparently we weren't given the best instruction (thanks, Petco).
Just so I'm clear, is this the test you recommend?
