Thanks for the help, tips and link ;-)
Last tank I had was a 10gal and it was my kids molly tank. This baby is mine...the kids just get to pick a few fish lol...they like the cardinal tetras.
You've been nice and supportive, I appreciate that :cool:
:-) Thanks! Yeah that's what I usually do, but I just didn't do it for the camera pic for whatever reason :-/
I figured I'd continue testing up until Friday...since i wouldn't have anytime to get fish between now and then anyway.
For stocking - I was thinking of: (not all at once)
5/6...
testing my ammonia and nitrites every 24hrs I get 0 across...however what seems odd to me is the nitrites are almost a very light light/pale green, like an aqua color...no where even near the chart color.
I would say this is working pretty nicely now.
on March 23rd at 2:30pm
Ammonia was at .25 and I added 5ml of ammonia and it brought it to an in between 3 and 4ppm
by 8pm it dropped to 0! That was pretty quick
then I added 5ml of ammonia and it brought it to 3ppm
Here is my March 23rd run...
nope, not wrong! I'm NOT using the clear cylinder, but rather using the carbon, and then blue sponge that goes around that portion. nothing else though.
Should I take the filters apart and ditch the carbon stuff and just use the sponge pad by itself?
BTW - not that it makes a huge difference...
I'm not running any bio medium....at least nothing more then what came with the filter system. What do you mean "pack and the filter around the outside"?
I have the heater cranked all the way up and the highest it will read is 82. It was rated for a 60gal tank, but 82 is the highest it will...
no, regular ammonia - Ace hardware brand.
My ammonia drops to .25 just about every 24hrs after I had 2-4ml of it before that time. The nitrites (as you can see from my list) didn't rise until after I added the 2nd filter. They dropped but only to 2.0. 2 nights ago they read 1.0, but that...
Not sure why it wouldn't let me "edit" my above first post to keep the levels in one post, but here are the last few days:
March 19th
@10:00pm
ammonia .25
nitrite 2.0
added 3ml of ammonia
March 20th
@4:30pm
pH 8.4
ammonia .25
nitrite 1.0
nitrate 5.0
The filter is a marineland YES and it only supported 250GPH. Once I added the 2nd filter the ammonia kick started pretty fast as did the rise in nitrites.
I wasn't constantly measuring nitrAte because I was told that didn't really matter right now as much as the ammonia and nitrItes.
From the...
Hello everyone! I recently purchased a 60gal tank back in Jan. I'm using 2 canister HOB filters, and have my heater placed directly in the middle of the tank to even out the temp the best possible way. Heater is cranked all the way up and it's a steady 82F.
I plan on stocking my tank with a...
