I say to cycle it for 2-4 weeks depending on how you're going to cycle it. Are you going to add any chemicals, or throw in some things from an old tank to add the benificial bacteria? Or are you starting from scratch?

Is it ok to keep my plants potted? I was ill instructed by some jerk who wanted to sell me something and the gravel is too large to grow the plants in. Is it okay to bury the plants (potted) in the gravel and them continue to survive?
