Is my stand going to give?

Mine is built the same way; at first I was really nervous considering the 1200+ pounds of water, but thus far, nothing has happened. *Knocks on Wood*

    My Cichlids are Vegetarians!

Yeah... I don't quite understand it either... They also won't come up to the top of the water to grab the floating pellets. Is this strange? When I first got them, I had smaller pellets so they could fit them in their mouths, but now they are much larger and require a medium sized pellet. My...

    My Cichlids are Vegetarians!

So the other day I decided that my Cichlids deserved a treat. I went out to my LPS and bought some frozen blood worms. I dropped a block in and expected this frenzy... But nothing happened. They swam to it, looked at it, and swam away. It was extremely dissapointing.

    Bacteria Bloom?

So I've had my 150 gallon set up for about a week and a half. I have leveling sand and lava rock in the tank. My first question earlier last week was how long it would take the sand to settle, and I was correctly advised to make 50% water changes daily. This certainly got rid of my floating...

A few newbie questions - new 10G tank, upgrade

First off, if you have moved your decorations from the old tank to the new tank, do not wash them. These decorations have the benificial bacteria on them assuming you have never let them dry while transfering them from tank to tank. Also the chlorine in your tap water would have killed the...

A few newbie questions - new 10G tank, upgrade

I say to cycle it for 2-4 weeks depending on how you're going to cycle it. Are you going to add any chemicals, or throw in some things from an old tank to add the benificial bacteria? Or are you starting from scratch? As for the heater, that is strange that it doesnt have any controls. What...

Why do my fish hate me?

Krypt is so far the winner in my book. Imagine how afraid you'd be if something not your species came by and decided your house looked better on the other side of the tank, where you pooo. I'm sure you'd be afraid.

    rescape of the 52

That looks awesome! Great job. I need to do a better job making my tank look more natural. Mine looks like a scene from a japanese jungle, only the jungle was destroyed by lava. :)

    Frustrated..

Everyone I've had advice from recommended to me that I do 50% water changes, and this has SEVERELY reduced the cloudiness of my tank.

    Potted Plants

Yes, slits are in the pots. I'm just unsure how it will grow in the large gravel once it outgrows the pot.:n00b:

    Potted Plants

Is it ok to keep my plants potted? I was ill instructed by some jerk who wanted to sell me something and the gravel is too large to grow the plants in. Is it okay to bury the plants (potted) in the gravel and them continue to survive?
