Should I get this broken tank & try to fix it?

Yeah, I know that once you have experience, it's easy... sounds good... I would like to try it on a small tank sometime. I don't know about doing it with a huge tank that I can't even move. When one edge of silicone is gone, it'd stay in place with the other edges right?

    125g paludarium (river tank) build

June 11th - Entry #1 * Intro: I am a novice with DIY and aquariums, but I want to create something nice given my skill level, and with your help. Please comment! I have been brainstorming this for a few days already. I have other unrelated projects I am busy with too, so we will see how much...

Starting a Paludarium (river tank) - which tank to use/get?

I've decided I will use my existing 125 gal. I'm going to start another thread on this.

Should I get this broken tank & try to fix it?

Thanks, yeah I am going to pass on this tank. I don't need the place stinking of silicone, I kind of forgot about that part. (It is going to stink from other stuff I plan to do, but it shouldn't be the same volume.) And I don't want water all over the carpet. Plus I really should try to wait at...

Should I get this broken tank & try to fix it?

I shouldn't get another tank, but of course I want one if I can find one that is a good enough deal. I really shouldn't but can't help at least considering it... I found someone selling a 125 gal that leaks but has no visible cracks on the sides. Might have a crack on the bottom under the...

Starting a Paludarium (river tank) - which tank to use/get?

I have a 125 gallon freshwater that I took apart, and was going to redesign/restart soon as a regular community tank w/some basic live plants. However now I know that I want a river tank / paludarium in addition to a community freshwater. I am wanting some advice on various things so I can...

    Fixing my homemade wood stand?

Success! A few days ago I stained/coated the stand, and it looks much better. It looks like it was expensive or at least normal cost. Before it was okay, but looked like it was homemade. Before it was a 7.1 out of 10, now I rate it 9.1 out of 10 for appearance.

    Fixing my homemade wood stand?

About the level problem -- I read online that if it's less than about 1/4 inch then don't worry about it. Even more. The guy said that trying to level it was difficult and for a big tank it was less necessary. But I will maybe put at least one little thin piece of wood to help even things out...

    Fixing my homemade wood stand?

I have an extra tall stand that a guy built out of wood for my 125g. I would like suggestions on improving it. Right now the front is one huge piece of wood, then the sides are big pieces of wood. Nicer than plywood but kind of bothersome. I like the height a lot, but wish I had cabinets and...

How do I know if I would like cichlids?

Are there any that stay small and can be kept in a community tank? Would be a big tank with plenty of hiding spots / territories to claim.

Should I keep my 125 gallon?

If they were compatible I would love to have any/all of these: shrimp (multiple types), snails (possibly more than one type), lobsters or mini lobsters or crayfish or similar, crabs of various types, clams (I know that is NOT possible by far)... pretty much whatever... I tend to like those... I...

Should I keep my 125 gallon?

Yeah... So I should just clean it out, get better filtration, pick sand, improve the stand or get a different one if I can, be patient while it cycles, pick some cool fish, maybe add inverts and/or plants, and be happy with it. Maybe I can do that :) And try not to want any of the fish that...

Should I keep my 125 gallon?

Okay... some additional questions/concerns: I know they are expensive, but I have sometimes wondered if I might be happiest if I had one of those multi-tank interconnected systems? I know of a store going out of business and it might be an okay price. So I can have different types of fish that...
