has your blood parrot ever nipped at your arms? I accidently cornnered mine one day moving stuff at the bottom of the tank and he nipped my arm..I dont think they have teeth though..It just really suprised me..
I think Im going to try this. My Blood Parrot is my favorite of all my fish he is fatter than all the others..Sometimes I put just a few flakes above his head just for him or the freeze dried baby shirmp. from Tetra just above his head just for him..He seems to watch me anytime Im near the tank...
it takes a good while for a heater to warm the entire tank..check it over the next day or two..I have an AGA 200 watt in my 55..It just needs to be big enough to warm the entire tank..if its 86 on both sides I would turn it DOWN and give it about 2 days...
I would say if its cold it could take 2...
Our aquarium only store went out of business..but just looking at petco and petsmart VS online..I dont see paying the FLAT OUT MARKUP on some of this stuff..This stuff gets expensive quick..a 10 gal turned into a 20 into a 38 into a 55...Now its a 55 waiting to be drilled for a 20 gallon sump...
did anyone see the part of the preview where the archways in the building had the fish swimming in them? the top of the wall and the rounded archways were the tank?
That looked so cool...I thought it said Friday at 9:00 though..was gonna DVR that..
55 Gallon upgrade eh? Good chance to empty out your 10 gallon tank and your wallet all in one stop...Got one myself..Then we need a good filter for a big tank..That Rena Filstar was good..and Need a BIG heater the small one wont cut it..and Hoods and lighting..and humm..Need more fish now the...
They will eat the NITRATES which helps to cause the algae to begin with..Lots of plants less.. nitrate less algae...Make sure you dont under score the job...Or the plants will be covered in algae too.. another words one or two plants in 75 gallon tank probably isnt going to do what you want..
Nothing I had would eat them...They spread FAST...if you have some algae on the sides of the tank..They do clean the tank up some..I hear Gourami's will eat the eggs..Not sure though..I didnt have the Gouramis back then...
I know SilverDollars dont do anything with them though..
look to make sure those arent snails...I had a similar issue..you mention NEW plants..Thats how you get the snails and they like to stay on the glass..I wound up having to remove the fish and kill the snails..got WWWAAYYYY too many of them.
they might be tiny snails...If you have NEW plants..thats how I got them ..and like that they started TINY and ate algae off the glass all day long pretty soon I had tons of snails everywhere..I had to take the fish out and kill them..If you got your plants at the LFS look and see if they have...
yeah...that looks pretty rough...I would pull that filter media and change it ..I dont think that will wash out..and flush a good bit of that tank like 75% of it..
it would re-cycle the tank but that looks pretty bad by this point
are the Nitrates and Nitrites in it very high?
if your getting...
I have a 20-40 and wasnt happy with the flow rate and volume because of the way the cartrige is made with the plastic backing on them the seem to STAY full and the overflow running wide open..I actually pulled the cartrige and replaced it with a piece of RENA sponge filter..They tell you to...
I didnt know my tinfoils do act a bit dopey sometimes running into the tank and the filters..I thought maybe they had a drinking problem I should look into.
It just seemed like a lot of water to be inside the house, but its been so humid I guess its just soaking up..It does get hot in this room...
