    Can anyone identify my goby?

I agree that the fish in question looks like a gudgeon. The pic looks very similiar to some of my smaller goo obo gudgeons, before they really develop their color. Gudgeons seem to be pretty rare (I've never seen them for sale in the Houston area) in my experience. Consider yourself lucky for...

IM SO ANGRY!!!!! Update! part 2, found the manager

Sounds like it turned out well then! Like you said, if you get a job there you will be able to help inform other customers and staff. Sounds like a good plan.

Substate to go with Eco-complete and questions

I don't use eco-complete, but whenever I do a water change just pour the water onto a decoration or some kind. That way the water is deflected from the bottom. A rock, piece of driftwood, any kind of decoration should work.

I have this bottle of ammonia...is it pure?

I second the recommendation of the ACE Hardware brand ammonia. I have used it successfully in the past. I also wonder what the "quality control" agents are. They might be harmless, I don't know. Do you know what brand it is? If it were me, I'd see if there were an ACE around you and give that...

    Bio Spira, Yea or Nea?

Bio Spira can be hit and miss. I have had both successful and unsuccessful attempts with Bio Spira. The thing you have to worry about is the transportation of the Bio Spira. If it's not kept cold, the bacteria 're-awakens' and then would die before they got into your tank. It's a $10-$15...

    Cypress

I don't see why cypress wouldn't be safe to use in an aquarium, I haven't really heard of certain woods that you're supposed to avoid. The real question might be how difficult is it to waterlog? Different woods take different amounts of time to waterlog in my experiences. I'm not sure if cypress...

    Godzilla Shrimp (PICS ADDED)

Very true words. I originally had 3 bamboo shrimp (bought at Petsmart labeled as marble shrimp) but one decided to search for water somewhere else besides in my tank. He was missing for several weeks and I was starting to get worried. I then looked behind my canister filter, he had crawled out...

    Real Driftwood-will it sink?

When I got a new piece of driftwood for my 55, I let it soak in a bathtub for a week. It was still floating, so I just tied it to a brick with some fishing line. I buried the brick under the sand so you couldn't see it. A while later (maybe 2 months) when I was doing a PWC, I tested the...

Jungle's Parasite Clear safe for clowns and shrimp?

I think I've got some internal parasites in both of my tanks. I plan on trying to treat with medicated foods, however all of the fish might not eat it. If that happens I plan on trying some of Jungle's Parasite Clear tabs. My question is if the tabs are safe for clown loaches, plecos, and...

Looks like it's that time of year again

I've got a female amano in my 10gal tank that consistently produces eggs. There are two other male shrimp in the tank with her, but I have no idea if the eggs ever get fertilized. She usually carries the eggs around for a while (maybe a week or two....I don't really pay attention to it) but then...

Lonewolf, is this the wood shrimp you talked about?

You were correct in not believing him. The Marble Shrimp are the same things as Bamboo Shrimp. If I were you, I'd go ahead and pick it up, you're going to love it!

    Lost another one :(

You mentioned that you're tank has hard water and a high pH, from what I've read cardinals are supposed to be very sensitive to pH. My LFS won't even sell you cardinals unless you bring in a water sample. Don't beat yourself up, there wasn't anything you could do.

Lonewolf, is this the wood shrimp you talked about?

I have 3 of them in my 55gal. They are fantastic and are one of my favorite things in the tank. They are called Bamboo/Wood/Singapore/Flower Shrimp, they are all the same thing as far as I know. I picked mine up from PetsMart where they were labeled as Marble Shrimp. They are great community...
