So I've been keeping an eye on the fish and the white spots have all disappeared on the Rummynose. I haven't raised the temperature or done anything yet so maybe it was mucous or something else? It did look like small white grains but now they're all gone. I don't see any white spots on any...
Thanks for the tips Colin. I'm not really sure if it's Ich, but the photo I posted shows 1 of the 2 Rummynoses that has the white spots - this is the one that has more. Just yesterday there were probably only around 3-4 spots and now there's probably more than 10, so it does seem to be spreading...
Hi all,
I have what looks like it could be Ich starting to appear in my community tank on some new rummynose tetras & cardinal tetras that I recently introduced after a few weeks in quarantine. I didn't see signs whilst they were in quarantine, so I either missed it or they've just started...
Thanks Colin. I’ll leave them there for a few weeks longer.
Great tip about the gravel! I added some dark pebbles to the tank and they almost immediately looked less stressed and more relaxed. They’re no longer darting around so much and look to be eating well again.
I tested the water again...
Thanks both, and especially your experiences with new Rummynoses Colin. I've done the water change and I definitely add dechlorinator (seachem prime) to all water I add my fish tanks. The water source and pH, temp is the same for my main and quarantine tanks. The quarantine tank is only on...
Thanks for the additional advice. Didn't realise that Rummynose were so fragile when new! Also, a typo in my original post - there were 9 rummynose originally, with 3 dead which now leaves 6 rummynose plus the 8 new rasboras that are still looking fine as well. Yeah I thought 5 gal is a bit...
Hi all,
3 days ago I purchased 8 new rummynose tetras and 8 new hengeli rasboras to add to my tropical community tank. I've added them to my 20L / 5 gal quarantine tank for 2 weeks before introducing them to the 200L / 50 gal community tank. The quarantine tank has been cycling for about 3...
OK thanks again for the advice. I'll keep an eye out for eggs and remove the bladder snails as I find them.
I have an outdoor water feature/pond that I can dump them in to keep them out of my tropical tank. The outdoor water feature has some goldfish in it. Is that a bad idea? I don't care if...
Great, thank you all for the help. I think I'll just keep them in there and see what happens. I won't add any more food than I would normally feed the rest of the fishes and just keep an eye on things.
Actually, I've spotted another type of snail in there too if you guys could help ID this one...
I've spotted a snail in my freshwater tank that I think has come from some recent plants I've added. I think there's only one but can't be sure. It's about 2-3mm in diameter (1/16" to 1/8")
I'm unsure of what it is and am hoping someone can help identify it for me and if it's a pest? Should I...
Hi all, this is my first post and my first tank. I'm a newbie but have been doing reading and research on the nitrogen cycle, compatible fish, etc. I'm hoping the group here can work out the max number of fish I can have in my tank.
My setup is:
50 Gallon / 200L tank
Freshwater, heated ~75f /...
